Leeds slammed by fans as email emerges from club, sent to loyal supporters attending away games

Leeds United have been slammed by fans as an email emerges from the club, sent to loyal supporters attending away games for 2024/25.

The cost of every Leeds away game last year came in at £669, meaning their own club have decided to bump up the cost of following them home and away by £180.

They have introduced an away season ticket priced at £850, which has sparked controversy, making this decision just two weeks before the season starts.

As seen above, the email reads: “Dear loyal supporter, Firstly we would like to thank you for your tremendous support and loyalty following Leeds United.

“As you may be aware, you are one of our 265 ‘Super Away Attendees’ who went to over 80% of Leeds United away matches from 2015-2020. A truly incredible commitment.

“Following a review of our ticketing policy over the summer, the decision has been made to remove the ‘Super Away Attendees’ category from away ticket sales going forward.

“Naturally, the above decision will impact you, as you are one of our 265 ‘Super Away Attendees’.

“However, as a result of this, we would like to reward your loyalty by offering you the opportunity to purchase a 2024/25 Away Season Ticket.

“Away Season Tickets for the 2024/24 season are priced at £850 for adults, £680 for seniors 65+ and £440 for juniors U16, and ensure you will receive a match ticket for every Leeds United away league game, enabling you to keep up the same level of support as you have shown down the years.

“Away Season Ticket Holders are also guaranteed a ticket for any potential away cup fixtures, which can be purchased separately in a priority window.

“Should you choose to purchase an Away Season Ticket, there is also the option to spread the cost over a six or ten month period, with V12 Finance’.

“Further details and information on how to purchase your Away Season Ticket can be found below.
Once again, we would like to thank you for your dedication and continued support.

@alexjl30 replied: You really are a bunch of cheeky bastards @LUFC

“Thanks for your loyalty when we were shite, if you still want to go to away games then pay us £850 immediately or lose your loyalty.”

Rats. 😂😂😂

Just to add to this, if you bought a ticket for every away game last year it totalled £669.

So they’ve just decided to bump it up an extra £180 for good measure 😂

They couldn’t give a fuck mate, £850 on 2 weeks notice or lose the loyalty you built going when nobody else wanted to.

As mentioned, Leeds United are being slammed by fans as an email emerges from the club, sent to loyal supporters attending away games…

@LeeMUFC7: That works out around £36 ish per game based on the 23 away games. Dearer than PL away games. and clubs wonder why the game is dying.

@leedsshirts: This sort of stuff I find baffling and is what’s letting the club down at present. Why upset 265 loyal fans & get all the PR backlash that they’ll no doubt get for the sake of £200k (£850 x 265). Which they’d get anyway, just later Its peanuts to a club of this size. Piss poor

@_royston_82: That is awful, should be saying you’re one of 265 super away fans here’s a free away season ticket to reward your loyalty! Exploiting the most loyal fans 🤢

@lucytallant17: “We would like to reward you” 😂🥹

@oldskoolleeds: Piss poor this

@emziewba: That’s madness. I’ve paid £50 for an away membership at West Brom and it’s exactly the same. Guaranteed an away ticket

@ismith1968: Thats an absolute joke – thanks for your support in the tough times now give us more cash…… a lot of clubs are out of touch with the fan base on ticket pricing like this

@AidenJM92: This is disgraceful! Rivalry aside I think football fans need to unite on ticket prices, we banter and compete against each other, But the most important aspect is its “Our Game”. Working class are slowly becoming priced out. Imagine the strength if all fans came together!

@stefanpeck78: Another reason to choose Non League, These clubs see you as a Customer not a Fan. They really don’t care about you.

@chrisburke: Football clubs don’t care about the loyal supporters. You’re just a customer to them, and in this day and age, they’ll try to squeeze you for every penny.

@DanP_LUFC: That’s disgraceful. Surely as a super away attendee they can offer the away season ticket at a heavily discounted rate. You know, seeing how grateful they are, and there’s only 265

@LordStu1234: Football dead mate, we are just customers now

@allmoshnopit: The fact they’ve framed it as a “reward” 😭

@jamesgardham: Football fans are no longer fans, they are a line of income

@morny7: Horrible this from Leeds, treating fans like dirt. However, they aren’t an unusual case sadly – every club treats their fans with as much contempt, without exception. Football is so horrid now.

@stokaljona: Genuinely as much as it’s been obvious for a while that the vast majority of owners couldn’t care less for fans… it feels like in the last year or so it’s gotten incredibly brazen how willing they are to take the piss

@atypicalbob: Where is the average fan going to get £850 in two weeks during a cost of living crisis? Absurd.

@ConorHill9: Poor form is this from @LUFC

@rudeboydreas: Shocking state of football

@JasonMcKell26: Shite that. But I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it only sets a precedent for other clubs. All the bastards are as greedy as each other

@divadawni: Disgusting from them down road at L@&ds , wonder if they’re still loving their new owners 🤔

@1966MJG: Clubs and their owners, CEOs, the money men, really don’t gve a shit about the heart and soul of a club, the fans.

@jfsmith98: Proper fucking rats mate. I’ve got mates who are Leeds who’ve been going since they were getting 15k at home. It’s sad to see their loyal supporters treated in this way
