Following the game, the Sunderland Echo reported that Plymouth boss Derek Adams claimed that Plymouth ‘were the better team’, that he thought defeat wasn’t the right scoreline and Sunderland ‘rode their luck’.
He said: “Last week Southend had more opportunities than Sunderland did and Sunderland won. “Today, we have had more opportunities than Sunderland, and Sunderland have won.
Adams goes on to add that he thinks Sunderland won’t get it all their own way this season and that they’re favourites because of the money they have.
Sunderland boss Jack Ross however was pleased with what he saw and that they controlled majority of the game.
Supporters took to reply to Plymouth’s tweet saying that they were gracious in their defeat, others applauded Sunderland for their dig at the League One strugglers – check out those tweets on the next page.
