Sunderland fans have been condemned after bricking the Crewe supporters coach after suffering Carabao Cup defeat on penalties.
Twitter user @alroberts21 wrote in a tweet: “This is what losing to little old crewe means to the sad low life sunderland fans that felt the need to brick the bus with kids on. Disgrace to @SunderlandAFC joke of a club.”
Tom Boon said: “#SAFC putting bricks through windows of buses with kids on them, classy club yeah 👍👍
“both coaches bricked in after the game, but there was kids under the age of ten where they came through on our coach so proper proper scummy and dangerous. Over a Carabao cup game too…
“wouldn’t be as bothered, but it was kids under the age of ten right next to me where the windows been broken so just proper scummy from whoever’s done it.”

Harvey Davies, an on-loan goalkeeper from Liverpool, was the hero as the League Two side pulled off a shock penalty shootout win at the Stadium of Light.
The 19-year-old kept out Pierre Ekwah’s spot kick, with all five Crewe players making no mistake and Ryan Cooney scoring the winning penalty.
That put a downer on a historic evening for Sunderland striker Chris Rigg, who just 51 days after his 16th birthday, became the youngest goalscorer in Sunderland’s history, after being their youngest-ever outfield player last season.
Skipper Luke Offord put Crewe in front in first-half injury time before Rigg’s goal had netted an equaliser.
Sunderland (4-2-3-1): Bishop; Johnson (Crompton, 46), Batth, Triantis, Huggins; Rigg, Neil (Dack, 46); Ba (Bellingham, 70), Pritchard, Taylor (Ekwah, 46); Bennette.
Subs not used: Patterson, O’Nien, Spellman, Roberts, Clarke.
Booked: Batth, Bennette, Pritchard, Ba.
Crewe (3-5-2): Davies; Williams, O’Riordan, Offord; Cooney, Holicek (Demetriou, 90+2), Powell (Lunt, 60), Tabiner, Billington (Adebisi, 59); Tracey (Long, 59), Baker-Richardson (Nevitt, 69).
Subs not used: Booth, Nevitt, Woodcock, Thomas, Griffiths.
Booked: Powell, Holicek, Lunt, Offord.
Referee: Scott Oldham.
Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray said as per the Northern Echo: “I’ve just said to them, they have to judge their performance levels and who they were playing against.
“I think in the first half, we weren’t brave enough. When you get opportunity in life, you have to grab it with both hands and grasp the nettle.
“The messages are there every day – look forward, run forward, pass forward. We kept going sideways and around and around and around, we didn’t cut through a team playing five at the back. We just didn’t have the quality to punch the ball through and hurt them in the box.
“In the second half, we addressed that a little bit, and created a few more opportunities. Ultimately, we’re disappointed, we played against a League Two side who played with organisation and commitment. But we should have had more to win that game. We can’t change the result now.
“He (Dack) looks forward and he plays forward passes, he’s trying to create and that’s what I’m saying to the young players – you have to that bravery and look beyond the simple, ten-yard pass. The best players play forward and Dack came on and started doing that.
“His combinations with (Alex) Pritchard were good, and then (Jack) Clarke came on and eliminated players. I would have put Patrick (Roberts) on as well, but he was feeling tight so it wasn’t worth the risk.
“I don’t like losing so I felt I had to change it. I felt I needed to put those players on the pitch, and I felt the goals were coming towards the end. It wasn’t to be, and we still didn’t have enough end product really to warrant us scoring two, three, four goals.
“We have to be better and more creative. I feel the core of the team is there. We can work it around the pitch, work it out to Roberts and Clarke. We just need people who arrive in the box to score goals, getting Bradley up to speed is a positive for that.”

Lee Bell believes Crewe Alexandra’s stunning win at Sunderland will bring his players even closer together.
Bell explained: “I thought the players were excellent. It was a real team effort from a group of lads who are all in it together and want to go in the right direction.
“Everyone put a shift in and they had to do that because Sunderland are a good side. We looked a really organised team and showed real courage when we had the ball.
“It shows we are a good team and it will bring us closer together, and give us positives and belief going forward into the season.
“It was a good night and I hope everyone enjoyed it. We didn’t want to come here to just make up the numbers – the players took on the information we gave them brilliantly.
“It showed the intelligence of the players to be able to take on the information and deliver that performance.
“I’m delighted for everyone connected to the club – especially the fans who made the long trip to support us. I wanted to celebrate with the fans and show my appreciation at the end.
“We won’t get too excited. We won’t get too low when we get a knockback and we are not getting too high about this. We have to just keep building.
“They were really good penalties! We practiced them briefly but they were excellent so we didn’t carry on doing them – you can sometimes do too much in terms of practicing penalties.
“We got good outcomes and the lads held their nerves.”

@GiffordGeorge: Absolutely disgraceful. Hope everyone is okay and congratulations on your win.
@GrahamH73: Aye this isn’t good at all but all clubs have this element! I was at Crewe away last season and plenty of ‘Youth’ hanging around after the match hoods up / scarves etc waiting for SAFC fans. Bolton was the same. Looking for social media likes and it’s growing
@J0shuaJ0rdan: Hope everyone is ok 🙏
@drcwwells: Really sorry this happened.
@Keithhutch30: Doesn’t surprise me one little bit, hope nobody got hurt.

@laurenkenny1993: It’s always the minority. I really hope no one is hurt & you all are ok
@Jack69366153: Minorities ruin our reputation yet again what a joke
@DavidGu35843283: As a Sunderland afc season ticket holder , i find this disgusting and degrading to think there is a minute element of hoodlums that probably don’t even attend matches that would do this …..I know the majority would agree ….all the best crewe…hope everyone is OK
@Char_lc: Hope everyone is okay! That is absolutely disgusting 😮. Although it would be easier to, we can’t tar them all with the same brush Im sure the majority of fans are mortified. I hope they’re caught and dealt with!
@Davidbarker1992: Disgusting from a sunderland fan. Hopefully they are caught and arrested however with Northumbria Police I wouldn’t hold my breath
