A Stockport fan ended up getting removed after an incident with Murray Wallace; and Huddersfield went on to lose late on.
Walllace went down rolling on the floor, a Stockport fan had seen enough and squirted water at him then gave him the two fingers. The Stockport fan was ejected, but also aimed some words at the those in the dugout. Then Benony Andresson scored in the 6th minute of stoppage time to seal a win for the hosts.
The defeat ends Huddersfield’s seven-match unbeaten run, dropping to 5th with 39 points from 26 games, but it is also a seventh away defeat out of 13 this season. Stockport move up to 4th with 42 points from 25 games.

Huddersfield manager Lee Grant said: “We have had enough warnings of that this season, and we have to be able to see games out in their entirety. Yes, the last kick of the game is a cruel way to lose it, but we have to be prepared to keep our intensity, and maintain our focus and concentration until the last kick, and we get punished.
“We knew the sort of game it was going to be, in terms of how hard it would be, and how difficult they would make it for us. We also really wanted to make the game difficult and challenging for them, which for the most part, we did.
“We limited them to very little chance, and action on our goal. But, there are opportunities for us to be better, and we don’t take those opportunities. That will be my biggest frustration when I watch the game back.”
🔵⚪️ ‘We want Taylor on, we want Taylor on’ sing some #htafc fans. Got to be worth a try, hasn’t it?

🔵⚪️ The travelling fans finally get their wish as Taylor replaces Charles up front. That sub should have happened 20 to 25 minutes ago. #htafc

🔵⚪️ Town fans made their feelings clear at full time, chanting: ‘Lee Grant your football is s***’
There were boos from the away end towards the #htafc boss as he went over to clap them.
Another defeat to a top team. Their XG in the first half was 0.10. Unacceptable.

🔵⚪️ Town fall to fifth in League One. They deserved to lose today for showing no attacking ambition in the first half.
The owner has invested heavily in this squad and #htafc have played like they’re one of the minnows of the division vs Lincoln and Stockport. Way too passive.

🗣️ “Too many nervous moments.”

Grant, per Examiner Live: “We’ve still got another gear to find when it comes to our bravery, particularly away from home.
“We have to go back to the drawing board on that, because for me, there’s more in the group, and right now we’re coming up short in these moments.
“We’d all have liked to have seen a more free-flowing performance, better quality when we had our moments to drive at them, and to be more secure when we had the ball in their half.
“I don’t think we showed enough confidence and self-belief, individually or collectively.
“Once they step across that line, they have to find the collective self-belief and energy to take the ball and impose themselves on what was always going to be a really tough challenge. We’re more than capable.
“So my disappointment is twofold: one, that we don’t see the game out as we should, and we should be talking here about a well-fought and hard-earned clean sheet.
“Then of course, we need to be better with the ball, which has been the same message for the past two weeks now.”
Stockport boss Dave Challinor said: “We’d certainly have liked not to have conceded last weekend, but it happened, and we’re a point better off than if it had been two draws.
“I think we deserved the result based on our endeavour and what we put into the game.
“I think sometimes you try to evolve and improve in certain aspects of the game and maybe lose focus a little bit on what’s got you success over the past four years.
“We’ve not meant to do that, but this week we’ve just had a little bit more focus on that. We looked in units at videos of the past three or four years and what that looked like, and that was a big part of what we did today.
“Our identity over the years has been built on our possession stuff, and we got back to that.
“We made some really good moments and didn’t make the most of them, but with the one ball we do put in with quality we get the winner.
“The lads have set the bar and we’ve got to make sure the bar doesn’t drop below that.”
As mentioned, a Stockport fan was removed due to incident with Murray Wallace, and Huddersfield go on to lose late on. Here’s the social media reaction to it all…
@rh0de5: Fucking holy water he jumped up that quick, time wasting pricks.
@davescounty: It was just the water from a magic sponge 🧽 see how fast he got up from faking the injury
@manager_graham: Amazing how the player recovered so quickly after the fan threw a few drops of water over him….obviously needed it after his play acting death roll!! 🤦♂️ Which was the worst offence?? 🤔😊
@RichardKosmala: A stunning feast of football 😅 Murray Wallace getting water squirted on him which must have been spiked judging by his shot on 87 minutes the highlight. Hope no fans were injured 😅 Take the league table out of your mind. The quality yet again 🐶💩 #htafc
@chriscalvert27: Lee Grant thats what you get for trying to defend a point away from home! You have been given all the tools to excel in your job and you have failed, what was required was out of your depth! Do the right thing and accept and move on! #htafc
@neilmurphy5: What a disgustingly passive performance. I don’t want my to see club to play like that. Get this man gone. He is an utter charlatan.
@_htfcharry_: @KevinNagleMLS I’m sorry but if he’s not sacked then I’m speechless. How can you back a guy whose football is arguably worst I’ve ever seen. So unbelievably out of his depth it’s a joke. Get him gone. Leo Castledine kept Grant in a job. Papered over all of the cracks. Now there’s no Castledine, there’s no one to rescue him. That performance, result and Taylor substitution sums our season up. Nowhere near good enough. Nothing going to change without a new manager.
@j_krawczuk: Nagle’s experiment with Lee Grant has been an epic failure. He’s absolutely clueless. You could give Grant 11 new players and the result would be exactly the same. That Taylor substitution on 87 sums Grant up. Out of his depth. Only himself to blame. Has to go, now. #HTAFC
@Dave_w08: Absolute rubbish from minute 1.. simply not good enough… tried to scruff a draw and got exactly what we deserved.. a team & management full of false promises booooooooooo! #htafc
@big_benny_lad: How can the hierarchy be satisfied with this return on their summer investment. Do they honestly believe Lee Grant is the right man (if so, what are they watching) Or do they simply not have the guts to admit they’ve got it so badly wrong yet again? #htafc
