It has been announced this afternoon that a non league club from step 6 have resigned from their league a month into new season.
That side is Leyton Athletic who have axed themselves from the Eastern Counties League (Thurlow Nunn) Division One South.
The league posted over on their social media account: “Leyton Athletic have given the Eastern Counties League notice of their withdrawal from the competition with immediate effect. This follows their inability to source a venue that meets FA requirements.”
They had only moved to the Eastern Counties League this summer after they ended the previous campaign in relegation from the Essex Senior League Senior Division.
All of the team’s remaining fixtures for this season have been cancelled as a results, and the single match they played this season in the league against Holland FC will be taken off the records.
They had been playing had Barking FC’s Mayesbrook Park (featured photo) last season and previous to that Waltham Lodge, now currently home to Walthamstow.
