Southampton have been urged to take action after a fan in his 50s gets knocked out cold when leaving the stadium, according to reports.
A 28-year old male was taken into custody after a man in his 50s sustained a head injury after the Premier League outfit were defeated 2-1 in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup.
The incident came as everyone inside the Kingsland Stand were making their way for the exits with witnesses claiming that the victim was attacked in front of his two children.
@SouthamptonFC still failing on every level to stop away fans buying tickets in the home end and these are the results of their incompetence. Absolutely shocking.

I hope the man is well and okay because as we left he was still bleeding from the head relentlessly and unconscious while his two sons watched on in tears and covered in blood begging for help.

I know the man’s name was Chris and he’s 52. I do hope if any #saintsfc fan out there knows this man could please let me know if he is well and my mum/fiancé are very shook any worries about his well-being.

A police spokesperson said: “Officers arrested a 28-year-old man from Southampton on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent following the conclusion of last night’s FA Cup game at St Mary’s Stadium.

“The arrested man remains in custody at this time.”

This is what social media users said with Southampton urged to take action after a fan in his 50s gets knocked out cold when leaving the stadium…
@matthicksonsfc: This is awful, and yes it sounds like the stewards didn’t do great, but once again how on earth do you expect the club to stop away fans getting in? The police have literally said the guy lived in Southampton so how the hell are #SaintsFC meant to stop him buying a ticket?
@Hainsy32: Just another way our club is failing in, lost count how many times there’s away fans in the home sections. The club and stewards need to sort themselves out. Hope the bloke is okay #SaintsFC
@yjw_x: @SouthamptonFC I suggest you take appropriate action, and also provide stewards with sufficient training. This is my family member, attacked in the home end, by an AWAY SUPPORTER. Yet we are the problem? #saintsfc
@josh_burridge: It was only a matter of time until something like this happened. @SouthamptonFC are you ever going to take this seriously?
@Hayley_P27: This is horrific. Hope @officialgtfc find and ban that “fan” for life. Those poor kids having to witness that to their poor Dad. Hope the poor guy is ok. Shame on you @SouthamptonFC to employ staff who act like that. Shameful.
@aaronmurray95: @SouthamptonFC not likely but you ever going to sort the amount of away fans that get in to the home supporters at St Mary’s. At what point is fan safety going to be a priority?
@JamesSharland10: Horrible this. Whenever I tweet about away fans in the home end I always get the same idiots saying ‘do something about it then’ or ‘it’s not that deep’ this is scenario shows exactly why it is serious and how poor the stewards are at dealing with it. #SaintsFC
@khughsey111: This is the result of not clamping down on away fans in the home section, absolute shambles @SouthamptonFC yet will jump to blame home fans for anything and everything, sort it out you fucking idiots !!! #SaintsFC
@AlishaW1709: Utterly disgusting. Here’s hoping the Saints fan gets better soon. You going to investigate this @SouthamptonFC?
@DanSFC94: Everything about the way this club is run at the moment makes me sick. This is so avoidable. I know they don’t care about our enjoyment, but not caring about our safety is something else #SaintsFC

@SaintsWayPod: Disgraceful, very uncomfortable reading. @SouthamotonFC sort your shit out and @officialgtfc hang your heads in shame. Praying for the chaps health. 🙏🏼
@gfoley21: This is really sad!! Hope he is ok
@HenryJamesDavis: Hope the man is alright! Although the club and @SaintsfcCop will do nothing about it. Can’t believe the stewards just stood on and done nothing. Doesn’t matter who the fan who threw the punch supported, it’s still unnecessary and I hope he’s banned for life.
@MarinersUpthe: Police report says “Southampton man arrested”. Also no need what so ever for a Grimsby fan to be in the home end when tickets were being sold on the gate for away fans and it didn’t sell out…. Seems you Southampton fans just can’t control your own. Stop spreading shite.
@009dye: @SaintsfcCop see this is the truth stewards just standing there because they are bloody useless, that’s what happens when you use untrained people just to make up the numbers, god help everyone if there was a real emergency
@saintsalex1885: Blame the club for letting away fans in the home section
@mattydig2: This is awful and again highlights how poor the stewards at SMS. I really hope the man is ok and his kids
@Scotslynn: Totally unacceptable and gives all fans a bad name. Hope the man is ok and the culprit is dealt with. Should never be allowed back at St Mary’s.
@matt_kempez: Christ. What is happening? I personally saw several really unsavoury incidents very near my seat. What in holy hell is getting into our fans? Mindless imbeciles
@_SaintsInFrance: The worst things about this it’s reported as a local Grimsby fan in the home section and the initial lack of care from stewards. Head injuries need immediate attention I hope the gentleman concerned is on the mend and WHEN will the club deal with this issue of away fans #SaintsFC
Absolutely the exact reason why so many of our fans push for the club to do their utmost to stop away fans in the home end. But @martin_semmens and co decid to brush it off and blame the home supporters instead. Thoughts go out to this guy and pray for a speedy recovery #SaintsFc https://t.co/uoCpolXWGh
