Sky Sports are to launch a review into usage of fan footage of an England fan who is appearing to snort powder, as per the Daily Mail.
One viewer got a surprise as they tuned into Sky Sports News just before 7pm, with Sam Allardyce on reporting duties for England’s Euro 2024 last 16 clash against Slovakia.
But the broadcaster showed live footage from a fanzone in Newcastle, with those in the venue watching the game on the big screen.

Sky Sports to conduct review of their usage of fan footage as they urge staff to be ‘more vigilant’ after England supporter was caught on camera putting mystery powder up his nose https://t.co/GX7Rws0Z8y
— Mail Sport (@MailSport) July 1, 2024
The camera caught a fan appearing to lift up a spoon with white powder on top towards his nostril and started inhaling it, before then joining in with the party atmosphere.
It came as a crowd of supporters in Newcastle, outside Central Park in Times Square, jubilantly celebrated Jude Bellingham’s 95th minute equaliser, an overhead kick, then burst out singing Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline.
The Daily Mail state that bosses at the station issued an email to its workers, warning staff that they need to be ‘more vigilant’ the morning after (July 1st) the clip went viral.
Now the company policy is having to be ‘re-evaluated’ and become ‘a more stringent approach’ to be put in place when they look to filming fans.
One nameless source to the Daily Mail said officials may be trying to take action to prevent any probe by watchdog Ofcom and say that they are taking this matter seriously.
However should any complaints come Sky Sports’ way, it would be a little harsh considering they filmed the event live and couldn’t possibly responsible for the fan who seemingly sniffed the powder in a busy crowd of celebrating fans.
The event, classified as over 18s event, with ‘Challenge 25’ on the door and at the bars, and there should be no food or drink brought onto site, with bag and body searches said to have been in operation.
This is how fans reacted amid reports that Sky Sports are to launch a review into usage of fan footage of an England fan who is appearing to snort powder…
@figjamben: Talk about being caught in the act
@Lukesagooner: Getting on the gear 😂
@simondale11: State of it.
@TheJasonAllday: Shovelling up in public! We live in some of the most watched countries in the world! Those with cameras & cellphones will never do you any favours ffs
@TheCMan10: People saying “dON’t OuT hIm”… he is doing drugs in a stadium on live tv 💀💀💀
@a_rambling_man: If he doesn’t want outing maybe he shouldn’t do it?
@iwaslikewhateva: He’s on TV. Globally….. He already outed, himself.
@MontyDomme32: Might as well calm the nerves after that game fella 🤣🤣
@Coreybrfc: Long day for that fella 😂
@LFCCC95: You’ve got a serious issue if you can’t go to a footy match without shoving a bag up ya nose. Grim
@JennPerry85: He didn’t have to do the drugs in the first place!
@EGjokutaj: He should think that prior of doing it, to fucking late, now it was on telly.
@ashbrad29: Dont blame him after watching that shit, give the players a bump next game liven them up a little
@StephanieYeboah: On live tv you know.
@Amytothemack: Everyone worrying about the guy getting caught out 😂 he chose to bump lines at a televised event. Knowing full well he might be seen. Stop pandering and grow up 🙄 plus if you have to do Coke at a footy match you don’t have much to lose…
@Ellisallen_: Probably the most embarrassing thing I’ve seen.
@___dp95: Just two lads enjoying the moment, let them live ffs 😂
@oxfordtoafrica: It’s not cool at all, I mean he seems happy enough but it’s really not cool at all.
@skoosh1: Anyone needing to take powder at a football match, or anywhere for that matter, needs their head examined.
@EgirlFootStool: Drug use at football games is being normalised far too much
@helenca16747398: That is not the look we what to see. Bad form and let’s the English people and the England side down. In my opinion.
@ToxicSandile: Doing illicit drugs live on tv, in front of everyone. It’s sad
@foreverayellow: imagine thinking it’s alright to go to an event like that, where you’re all being filmed, and snorting that stuff in public, with cameras and security about. it’s like you’re trying to get in trouble. mad btw how searches missed that upon entry too, if they did a good enough/through job at it that is
