According to talkSPORT, the Nottingham Forest and Olympiakos owner had been in the VIP area at the Euroleague Basketball final between Olympiacos and Real Madrid at the Telekom Center on Sunday night, which the Greek side winning the game 92-85.

The incident took place before the event got underway, with videos since emerged online, The Sun saying Marinakis was left with a bruise under his eye.

The Greek media outlet states that the two had been in a loud exchange before the person next to Marinakis threw an Olympiakos scarf at Dimitriadis’ face.

Both were separated by a barrier and security personnel as seen in this clip.

As per reports from Zougla, Marinakis said of the incident:

“I was passing by and saw him making some faces. I told him, ‘Don’t you think you’ve overdone it? You don’t realise where all this is leading.’ Then Dimitriadis spat on me. I slapped him and after that he tore my shirt.”

Olympiacos’ vice-president Kostas Karapapas allegedly approached Dimitriadis, with both in a heated exchange with it turning physical, said to have been pushing, thrown objects, with scarves and bottles thrown. Marinakis got involved.

Dimitriadis’ legal team is reportedly looking at taking legal action, with Marinakis facing a potential lawsuit as are members of his entourage.

Eyewitnesses next to Grigoris Dimitriadis spoke of what happened: “Grigoris Dimitriadis was standing in his seat and recording footage from the stands of the match with his cell phone when Marinakis approached and gestured to the prime minister’s nephew that he wanted to tell him something. Dimitriadis did not seem to be worried nor did he show that he was prepared for a fight. On the contrary, he was calm.”

Marinakis had approached Grigoris Dimitriadis and leaned over to say something in his ear. Immediately afterwards he slapped him.

Dimitriadis is said to have pulled Marinakis by the shirt and punched him.

“He leaned into my ear and cursed at my mother. I f@ck your f@ck, he told me. I know a little bit about boxing, I pulled him by his clothes and punched him.”

Other media outlet state that Olympiacos FC vice president Kostas Karapapas had also been near Marinakis, and involved in the verbal exchange.

Here’s the social media reaction after Evangelos Marinakis was seen with a ripped shirt and a bruise after an ‘altercation in the stands’…

@VagelisPapakon: The other guy is the prime minister’s nephew. He is the main suspect of a spyware scandal, known as Predator / Greek Watergate. They were monitoring Marinakis and tapping his mobile phone, which is why there are these reactions

@phil_from_NG: When you operate in the business/ political/ border line world in the way Marinakis does, there’s always a chance of coming unstuck. It’s a two way street, with big boys rules. That was all very mild yesterday, but maybe it’s time for a quiet retirement to the UK? #NFFC 🔴⚪️🌳

@BARS_NFFC: Why has Marinakis been fighting with politicians at a basketball game? One normal day Forest I beg 😭 #nffc

@PGJC7: Someone’s having a hit taken out against them today

@jaacknffc: He’s been smacked up there wtf, zoom in on his eye

@Stankowskiii: There’s a vid on that post now, looks like both sides 💀

@joker_23_17: Thats not someone you piss off 🤦🏽‍♂️

@ForestFanF13794: What on earth?! I thought we could lie down in a darkened room now and enjoy a quiet pre season ?! Or at least a week before the madness starts again. Never a quiet 5 minutes let alone a quiet day #nffc

@danielle_07x: MAN LIKE MARINAKIS.

@Joshmufc30: Evangelos Marinakis needs to start acting like a responsible Club Owner for gods sake 🤦🏻‍♂️

@andywhite1143: Absolute lunatic that one. 😂

@J16Sayers: Final four euro league and he ran his mouth and someone grabbed him , roughed him up a bit, another Greek guy from another team fanbase, then he gave it large

@boulton1977_rob: Top marks for the classic “hold me back lads” move from the big man

@WARRENG39: I think he told the Bournemouth executives that he had proof they were a multi club ownership and Forest were going to replace them in the Europa League next season and it all kicked off from there.
