The 2024/25 season saw the EFL set up a new broadcast partnership with CBS Sports, with more Football League games being broadcast in the USA than ever before.
Games were shown across the CBS Sports family of platforms and channels, including on Paramount+ and the Golazo Network. This continued throughout the 2025/26 season.
There is thought to be a rise in Americans are showing an interest in the Premier League and EFL, both leagues in recent years setting up a social media account with USA in it’s name.
Here’s how Twitter users reacted after Americans try to guess the names of EFL Championship clubs based off club crests…
@Albion_Nav: Guy with the Arsenal shirt on has zero ball knowledge? Color me surprised.
@isaaceverett729: Kudos to the guy who got Swansea 👏🏻
@scfcharvey: We are fucking global. Biggest team in the Championship. The Snoop Dogg effect. 🦢
@doodlebuggy1234: @JJStyl3z fair play to the guy who said the rams for Derby county
@Joshua694206969: Let’s go the fucking PP Lambs were going up 💪 #pnefc
@JamesSCFC_: Biggest club in the Championship 🦢
@david_livick: Based on some of the other guesses, I’ll take that for Preston
@HutchTweeting: I found this to be amusing and harmless to be fair, taken in the spirit it was intended.
@scfc_callum_: we are fucking massive 🦢
@Jay6timesLFC: I’d like to apologize on behalf of some of us living in America. Some of us actually have ball knowledge and not this putrid level of iq
@BTeej27: @BCFC you’re now Earth Soccer FC
@camwbaman: Can’t wait to belt out COME ON YOU PENGUINS next season when we get a corner #wba
@clay_hazel23381: I’m not sure if I’m more offended by Boro being completely ignored or by the woman who believes Argentina is an English Championship side!
@MarkLewisCarter: BBM’s Dragon Pigeon Army! 🏴🐦💙
@InsideArsenal89: 🤣🤣🤣🤣 this wins the day. Tottenham or whatever…
@potassium_boron: I don’t want to hear anyone doubting the sheer magnitude of Swansea City AFC EVER again
@UplandsSwansea: Swans are instantly recognisable….. Dragon pigeons? Well less so
@ldthornhill: 👹 Up the Red Goblins. I found it interesting that when meeting with US-based sports titles recently there was a belief our Imp badge would be really appealing to US soccer fans.
@ZG3II: I thought this would go about like this. But way worse.

This guy has an Arsenal shirt, but…
1) Confused Sunderland with Stoke City
2) Didn’t know Stoke City (Arteta models his tactics after them)
3) Thought Sunderland were in the EFL Championship pic.twitter.com/MhPJbwQffx— Nitsuj (@NitsujFC) May 25, 2026
