Sinclair Armstrong, 20, gives a rather wholesome interview after scoring his first goal for QPR in their win at Cardiff on Saturday.
Sinclair Armstrong’s close-range finish got the Rs in front in the first half, before Aaron Ramsey struck the bar as Cardiff pushed for a leveller but they were picked off on the break with Armstrong finding Kenneth Paal to score.
Ike Ugbo soon tapped in to give the hosts hope, then Mark McGuinness also hit the woodwork in the 89th minute, but couldn’t get the equalsier for Cardiff.

Interviewer: It’s a special moment when you score your first goal. What did it feel like?
SA: Oh, this is now this is something, you know, I’ve been waiting for, you know, for a long time. You know, of course, last season it didn’t happen, you know, and, you know, I just you know, I just kept praying and just for just one opportunity to come. And thankfully it happened today and also got an assist, so, yeah, I just want to put that out there. But, yeah, I’m delighted with the result and hopefully more to come.
QPR boss Gareth Ainsworth said that he told Sinclair Armstrong he would score his first goal for the club before the young Irish striker went and netted against the Bluebirds.
“I told Sinclair in the hotel this morning that he was going to score his first goal and the beaming smile on his face gave me confidence, never mind him,” said Ainsworth, as per Irish News.
“He’s a man of few words. He just said: ‘Cheers gaffer’. He told me after the game: ‘You were right gaffer’.
“He’s a work in progress but I believe we’ve got a real diamond. He’s young and come out of a lower level in Ireland.
“He’s not had enough games in the Championship yet, but he will get there and he’s like a 100 metres sprinter.
“He’s the quickest player I’ve ever worked with and is going to cause serious problems for defences.”
Cardiff manager Erol Bulut:
“We’re gutted. We were not concentrating in the first half, many players were nervous. We couldn’t manage the game or keep the ball well enough to create chances. Individual mistakes led to their goals. The opponents did not push too much or create much.
“We created enough to at least score a second goal and get a point. But two individual mistakes in the game meant the opponents led 2-0 and it’s not easy to come back to draw from there.
“We have to keep working on our mistakes. Also some players have to be much more active. From some players, it’s not enough. They have to give a better performance.
“Many players still have in their heads the last two years, how the Championship was for them. I try to push it out of them, to believe in themselves and focus on our target. It will take time but I think I can push it out of them. We need positive things, not negative things.”

@californiahoop: Would love him around for a few years, could really develop into a very good player, needs the best of coaching we can offer, also needs a new contract contract.
@Opporchoonist: Seems a really good lad. Technically he’s a bit short but he makes up for it with his pace, power and fearlessness. He needs to stay fit though, constant little injuries last season. If he stays fit he’ll improve a lot.
@Nick_Rangers73: This chocked me up. Love it and love him. Such a terrific and likeable young man.
