Sheffield Wednesday fans turn their back on the 10th minute of their game against Oxford, in protest of Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership.
Organized by the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Trust, the symbolic gesture expressed frustration over ongoing issues, including unpaid player and staff wages for March, narrowly avoided transfer bans, and broader financial mismanagement under Chansiri’s decade-long tenure.
The protest reflected a unified fanbase demand for change, with chants and statements urging Chansiri to sell the club.

CHAIRMAN’S LETTER: SUPPORTERS’ TRUST RESPONSE
We acknowledge Mr. Chansiri’s apology to the fans and the summoning of the EP with just one working day’s notice. However, this does not change the facts: the club continues to lurch from one disaster to another, most of them self-inflicted. Having come perilously close to a three-window embargo this week, we now face the prospect of operating under embargo for nearly two years if Mr. Chansiri normal business practice of cashflow shortfall reoccurs within the 12 month period.
We look forward to the club fully and openly responding to the EP’s call for a sustainable strategy that includes appropriate governance, experienced football professionals with the authority to make decisions, and committed budgets suitable for a club of our stature. This plan must be shared publicly and should include a capital investment strategy to push the academy towards Category A status and safeguard Hillsborough’s iconic legacy for generations to come.
Only then can fans regain confidence in the management of our club. Until that time, we will continue to push for Dejphon Chansiri to do the honorable thing and step aside once a buyer offering market valuation is found.
The protest is still on. We call on fans to protest on 10 minutes today and #TurnYourBackonChansiri.

Dejphon Chansiri issues letter to fans with apology but demands respect ahead of protest
The game itself saw Oxford boost their Championship survival hopes.
Sam Long scored the decisive goal in the 79th minute, sending the away end wild, a win that moves the U’s to 17th, six points clear of the relegation zone.
Wednesday, suffering their fifth straight home league defeat, drop to 14th, 11 points above the drop zone and nine off the top six with four games left.
Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl told BBC Radio Sheffield:
“I think we wanted to win this game and we tried, but in the end we couldn’t come to 100% to do it.
“In the final 20 minutes of the game they really tried and managed to do it, we had our moments but all in all we lost.
“I’m disappointed about us, I don’t like that we conceded from set-pieces again, at the moment it is tough to take and a tough time.
“At this stage of the season it is all about results and our results in the second half of the season, especially at home, you can copy and paste results and it is hard.”
Oxford United boss Gary Rowett told BBC Radio Oxford:
“There was lots of the performance I liked, we only had to hang on a little bit at the end.
“The game was reflective of our season, we seem to get a big win, then let ourselves down a bit, and then step up and show a bit of character.
“I thought we grew into the game in the second half and that platform allowed us to get the goal. It didn’t feel comfortable on the side[line] but we managed to get there.
“We had a little bit of fortune that they didn’t take one or two moments they had, and we rode that part of the game and came back into it, which I was really pleased about.
“This team is full of character and we just have to make the best of the tools we have, the players gave everything.
“Today we stepped up and it is a huge, huge three points.”

Twitter users reacted as Sheffield Wednesday fans turn their back on the 10th minute in protest of Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership…
@Dom_Hop: A proper trust bringing the fans together under one voice, coordinating a dignified protest, unified in their concerns about how their club is being run….meanwhile, in Blackburn, we have @RoversTrust who would rather brown nose with the very people who are destroying #Rovers
@ManicOwl1984: Well done for organising this, a lot of fans joined in. Hope there will be more to come. But a minority of those who did protest need to be a bit more tolerant of fans who did not – everyone is free to make their own choice and spitting venom at people on X isn’t going to help
@shimwell_kevin: @SWFCTrust Idea for protest for any remaining home matches…. Everyone wear BLACK! To signify the clubs slow death at the hands of Chansiri…. 10 years is more than enough to make a judgment on his tenure
@nigellewis11: Fans slagging off other fans for exercising their democratic right to keep sat down really are as thick as mince . Surely the way to protest against an arrogant, self entitled dictator is not then to act like an arrogant, self entitled dictator 🤦♂️
@bryantcrank: Hopefully a tipping point. Hope more protests for the rest of the season and more join.
@StripMatt: It was never going to be 💯 success today, but it’s a start.
@RachH1987: I understand the frustration of the fans but really don’t get the point of this. The match day 90mins is surely about getting behind the players on the pitch not the politics behind the scenes? Clearly helped the team today…not!
@HFJ114: need to get something like this going, some sort of protest. prove a point to these clueless clowns running the club #htafc
@Joelbirmz12: Turning backs does fuck all while paying for tickets and club merchandise 🤣
@jakerowl1: Well done owls and well done to all at the @SWFCTrust. The message is clear. #EnoughIsEnough #swfc. Dejphon Chansiri Get Out of OUR Club.
@Andrewick123 : Sheffield Wednesday got fantastic fans base 👏 hope the owners will fuck off and sale their club to make it better #swfc good luck rest of the season and get him gone!!!!! #oufc
