Sean Dyche’s interview goes viral after being mocked following Everton’s defeat to Bournemouth

Sean Dyche’s interview goes viral after a quote from it was being mocked on social media following Everton’s defeat to Bournemouth.

Sean Dyche’s comment about Everton’s run not being bad on paper if wins were added had the mickey taken out of it with Dyche was discussing Everton’s performance, highlighting the pressure and scrutiny Dyche faces as Everton manager.

Sean Dyche says “The run really isn’t bad on paper if you add wins to it”. This was picked up on by @blue6oy, who then said in response “If you take away the dead bodies, Fred West actually laid a decent patio.”

David Brooks came off the substitutes’ bench to score a 77th-minute winner and inflict another disappointing away day on Everton, who remain two points above the relegation zone; while Cherries consolidate 7th.

Everton boss Sean Dyche has been speaking to Match Of The Day after the narrow defeat: “A really tight game. First half, we were not at the races and I made some changes. I thought we had a stronger performance second half and we asked some questions.

“Taking our chances has been a challenge since I have been at the club. It still is and was today in those key areas, where people are trying to pass it rather than shoot.

“You look at the goalscoring records before I was here, it has been an ongoing challenge. I don’t know whether you have noticed, but the players that are able to do that cost a lot of money.

“You have to develop a way of playing but, equally, it comes down to individuals when the moment of truth comes.”

On Armando Broja’s injury: “We will have to wait and see on Armando. He has caught the floor as he has gone to shoot and twisted himself.

“Jesper Lindstrom picked up a knock as well.”

Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure to PLP: “A very difficult performance. The first half was not good enough from us, and we know that. We tried in the second half to correct that, and fight more for the first and second balls. Unfortunately we couldn’t score, and then they scored in the worst moment game because I think it was more like a draw.

“Obviously in the Premier League you have to compete and it’s very hard to take. Small moments can make the difference. We are going to learn and fight. Hopefully we can bounce back.”

On their lack of goals: “Goals give you wins and at the moment we can’t find a way to score goals. That’s a fact. We cannot hide from that. We to work and need to find a way to score goals. We need to score to win games and at the moment it’s difficult.”

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola to BBC Match Of The Day: “We had to be patient, even if we had been in control of the game and pushing them a lot. We’ve had chances but they have very good centre-backs and goalkeeper, and we couldn’t make the difference until close to the end. Probably we should have scored earlier but fortunately this time it hasn’t cost us points.

“We wanted to open the game as much as possible but this is tough against Everton. Once they started running out of legs they can even attack you so we can exploit more spaces. That didn’t happen until the end and we needed a very good finish with a lovely goal from David Brooks. He has top quality with the striking and composure so I am happy for him.

“We are happy with the run of games, the results and the performances. I think we now play four of the next five against top five teams, who are ahead of us, so I hope we can continue with this level of performance. I don’t know if it is enough to beat these teams, but we will try to be competitive with the teams at the top.”

Bournemouth match winner David Brooks to PLP: “It’s nice to see it fly in. Six or seven times you can see them spoon over the bar. When you play Everton, especially over the past few years, you know it’s going to be a physical and tough game.

“You need a bit of quality to finish it off. It’s not a game with a lot of clear-cut chances but we took one and got the three points. Nobody really likes coming to play us here and every home game we go into it thinking we can win. We have to just keep our feet on the ground and keep plugging away game by game.”

Fans gave their reaction as Sean Dyche’s interview goes viral after being mocked following Everton’s defeat to Bournemouth…

@ToffeeCardinal: I’m not saying Lampard was right about Doucoure but he wasn’t wrong either. Imagine having a link between midfield and attack that can’t pass a football.

@DEmbo1878: EFC asking a question which basically gives him an excuse for an answer! Soft ball questions, everything is not going wrong , luckily we’ve 3 teams below us!

@DylanFearon_: “It’s still not really a bad run if you had some wins in it.” Right, except we haven’t.

@FollowEverton: Sorry Sean. Best wishes but time to move on, not working out and you’ve tried everything. Yes players are shite but performances / results are your responsability and not good enough.

@dlo2411: “I’ve never made excuses since I’ve been here”… that’s incredibly rich. You literally just blamed the refs & JB for the loss. You can’t have the same hit & hope strategy to an isolated #9, go with the same lineup, cede possession, & expect different results

@PeterJMacca: Broken record every single week. We don’t score goals coz we never create clear chances, never put the opposition on the back foot, and never look remotely threatening. Clearly he has no idea on how to fix this, he’s pretty much said it himself that he can’t do anything about it

@sophefc2023: Get this piece of shit out of the club

@stevem1878: Deluded, clueless fuck. Stronger second half? Go lad, you’re embarrassing yourself and most of all this great football club

@Paul17efc28: This is what I inherited 2 years ago, were trying to change the narrative, it’s all about percentages, it was a close game that just didnt go our way, not listened to it yet but tell me if I’m wrong and it’s worth a listen

@top_bal_view: Did he really just say “I’ve never made an excuse since I’ve been here”? Cheeky fucker. All you ever go on about is the problems that existed before you came, in some pathetic attempt to exonerate yourself from actually fucking doing something about it. GET HIM GONE

@MelJHTX: Dyche’ whole philosophy is keeping a clean sheet. If that doesn’t happen, we lose. Fact. His systems and structure are archaic and unproductive. The only place this club is heading with Dyche in charge is the Championship. That’s it.

@delly1878: ‘It’s not a bad run on paper if you add wins to it, but we’ve not had wins’ – So it’s a bad run then ya tit.

@daveblueallover: Sack him already, he doesn’t have the answers to turn things around.

@HobartNeil: Did he just say the run we have been on is good if you add some wins into, although we haven’t won 🤣🤣🤣 its like something Mike Bassat would say

@thecraiggordon: @friedkingroup Honestly …. Change it before it is too late. Thank you Sean for stabilising the club when we were at our lowest but it’s Everton and things should be kicking on. Sadly it’s now going backwards and it needs to change. It’s simply not good enough

@80sEFC: ZERO shots on goal. Hoooof ball and only defend is boring and ineffective. Goodbye 👋👋

@1878lh: Everyone’s fault but yours.

@BornABlue1986: He just said the recent run isn’t that bad if you add a few wins into it. That’s absolutely hilarious.
