Roy Keane has the ITV pundits and viewers in stitches with an amusing one-liner on Pep Guardiola during his pre-match interview.
The ex-Man Utd legend, along with Mark Pougatch and Ian Wright, had been talking about the interview with reporter Gabriel Clarke, where the Manchester City boss declined to comment on Arsenal’s team selection.
Guardiola suggested that the question regarding Arsenal’s six changes in fourth round tie should be directed to his former assistant Mikel Arteta.
The interview ended with Guardiola saying ‘he’s more than welcome’, when questioned whether he would have a drink with the Arsenal boss after the match.
Guardiola’s responses were discussed about inside the ITV studio, with presenter Mark Pougatch saying ‘He wasn’t very chatty was he? And that was Gabriel being nice. What was that all about?’
‘It looked like hard work for him, didn’t it?,’ Ian Wright replied. ‘It’s funny because I never hear anything out of those interviews…
‘Pep always seems like someone who doesn’t want to be doing them. It’s really strange because I thought Gabe was on good form. He wasn’t being nasty.’
Keane then quipped ‘I think Pep should smile a bit more’, adding ‘and that’s coming from me’ with the pundit taking note of his no-nonsense reputation.

Nathan Ake was Manchester City’s surprise match-winner in their 1-0 win over Arsenal in the fourth round of the FA Cup, finding the bottom corner, to help his side to perhaps hand a psychological blow on the Premier League leaders when the two sides go head to head again next month.

Man of the match: Nathan Ake
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola speaking to BBC Sport: “We were definitely better in the second half. Arsenal have taken a step forward. It was a tight game and you realise how good a side they are. I did not expect the approach from them – man-to man – it was difficult to build up but we beat the team at the top of the league and are in the next round.
“What a season he [Nathan Ake] is playing. He controlled one of the toughest opponents in the Premier League because Saka is in an incredible moment.
“He is really good in the duels in the box, defending the far post and set pieces is an extra bonus. He is an exceptional guy, there was a period where he didn’t play and he never complained once.”
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta speaking to ITV: “Really disappointed. I think we could have got much more out of the game. The action decided the game but it was a tight game and that one action changed it all. I think we could have dealt with it much better in terms of our discipline when the ball was in the box.
“We had big situations in the game and we didn’t put them away. We can take a lot of positives, I think the way we approached the game and competed. It is really difficult to win against this team but we went head to head with them.
“In the big moments, in big matches you have the make the difference. That is how you win these games.”
Manchester City goalscorer Nathan Ake on ITV: “In the second half we were a little better and played more our game. It was tough, they pressured us high. We had to use Erling more than usual.”
On his goal: “A pass from Jack. It was the first one I ever scored with my right foot so pleased with that.
“Especially after a tough period, two good games before this one. It’s good to carry on this one. It gives us confidence for the next game.
“There’s still more to come. They are a very tough team. We stayed strong and didn’t concede.”
Arsenal’s American shot-stopper Matt Turner said post-match via arsenal.com: “We know how much the cup means to this club and the supporters and to us, so we’re really disappointed that we didn’t advance to the next round,” he said. “But there are a lot of positives to take from the performance and stuff to build on for the future.
“We didn’t really give them much for most of the game. I felt like we defended our box really well but when you give world-class players space on the edge of the box, we didn’t do enough to clear the ball afterwards.
“It’s disappointing to concede in the fashion we did, especially with some of the chances we created during the match, but we did and that’s that. We have to learn from it and continue to move forward.”
