The remaining Bolton fans who were left in the stadium took to boo players and their manager Ian Evatt off after defeat to Wigan.
Goals from Dale Taylor and Thelo Aasgaard in either half sealed a much needed three points for Wigan, who showed intensity from the first whistle, putting in a comfortable performance.
Wigan have won three successive league games at Bolton who miss the chance to get into the top six and their wait for a league win over their rivals will tick into a 10th year.

Dale Taylor put the Latics ahead on 18 mins, and it had been coming. Thelo Aasgaard led the charge forward and played in Dale Taylor who made his way past his defender and sent a shot past the diving Nathan Baxter.
Nathan Ellington (Ex-Wigan striker on BBC Radio Manchester): “That was amazing, and the quality from Thelo Aasgaard get it through to Dale Taylor was brilliant. Wigan are ahead and deservedly so.”
Gary Bowyer (on BBC Radio Manchester): “It might not look like it but Bolton do have a plan…they just can’t execute it because of Wigan’s intensity. The atmosphere isn’t helping them either. You can sense the nerves and frustration, and Bolton are all over the place. Ian Evatt needs his players to step up.”
Wigan were two up on 67 minutes, Wigan on the break again with Thelo Aasgaard finding the net. Steven Carragher sent a cross into the feet of Aasgaard whose first touch was excellent.
Nathan Ellington (on BBC Radio Manchester): “What a beautiful goal from Thelo Aasgaard. It’s great quality to turn like that and fire the ball home. I watched him finishing like that in the warm up, and he’s done it when it matters most. Now Wigan have a nice cushion.”
Gary Bowyer (on BBC Radio Manchester): “It’s great play by Thelo Aasgaard. I’ve been watching him over the last few years and you can tell how much he’s matured. Once upon a time he used to drift in and out of games, but not anymore. I’ve never seen such a quiet game from Dion Charles. Normally he has a proper go at defenders…but not today. He’s had no real chances.”
Bolton fans streamed out of the stadium soon after Wigan’s second while Ian Evatt stood seemingly in disbelief at his side not showing up in this local derby.
The result becomes Wigan’s third successive league win at their local rivals for the first time.
Nathan Ellington (on BBC Radio Manchester): “The Wigan fans can be so proud today because everything came together. The manager’s probably been working on these plans all week and if they can play like this every game they’ll be alright. They were incisive in attack and played simple one-touch football, with real quality.”
Twitter users gave their reaction as the remaining Bolton fans left in the stadium boo players and manager off after defeat to Wigan…
@dex_1996: Times up Evatt. No fight and bottle. How many times when we have decent crowd numbers, the fans are let down by awful performances. Wigan are an awful team and yet smashed us all over the park. The board needs to do something quick because it’s getting worse. In disbelief
@what_ste_said: Shocking! The board needs to make their first tough decision of their tenure. Thank you IE for everything you have done to bring the club forward, but unfortunately it’s time for a change. We only move upwards without him.
@geoman67: If this isn’t the end of him, I give up. Get him gone.
@EvatheoBWFC23: I’m not coming back until he’s gone.
@FredsCap: Shocking, surely change is needed now, this is simply woeful. The manager is not managing effectively… isn’t that his job? #bwfc
@Danny_BWFC87: Evatt’s ego and inability to adapt in game has ruined his Bolton career. The board needs to do the right thing, regardless of the cost. All the good work that’s been done by the club, now being ruined by a manager who shouldn’t of been in charge this season 🤷🏻♂️ #bwfc
@mattycarr93: We now have to listen to the painful interviewer as boring pointless questions. Grow some balls and ask him what the fans want you too. Why are you not taking the club forward? Is he going to leave? Has he got something over Sharon as to why she can’t sack him!
@08880x: Time for a change now. Please feedback the sentiment of the majority of the important people, the fans, to the board please.
@wez_glennon: I ain’t going back until he’s sacked. The owners dont deserve our loyalty
@Byronthomason_: Bye Evatt
@Lythgoe9Paul: Time too go Evatt. And take auntie shazz with you.
@pkrasny22: unlucky lads 😜😜😜 it’s okay though because it’s not a derby xxx
@Jack_BWFC2021: Another absolute embarrassment, get him gone. We are a laughing stock 😡
@superwanderer94: Evatt needs sacking now. Issue is the owners are too soft and never will sack him. Clubs in downfall and there’s no passion whatsoever on the pitch! EVATT OUT!!!!!
@MichaelBBWFC147: We did our bit, as per. Shame about those embarrassing ‘professionals’ 🤷 You really don’t know what it means to play for the badge do you. This club is just a wage for the majority lets face it. Utterly embarrassingly shamefully pathetic. Donate this month’s wages to charity.
@GouldyMedia: We all know what needs to be done. Get him gone. You could see what was coming after a couple of minutes. Embarrassed, yet again.
@MrMajeeka: Sadly, everyone knew this result was coming and Ian has nothing to combat it as has been shown time and time again. Board won’t do anything as I don’t think they can afford to.
We try to support always but its enough, we need a change. Thanks for all Ian and the great moments. The club is above all pic.twitter.com/IvOOcjFwSq
