Aaron Ramsdale’s Dad calls Jamie Carragher ‘a disgrace’ and James Maddison makes a cheeky dig at Bukayo Saka copying his celebration.
The Arsenal keeper’s father hit out at the Sky Sports pundit via Twitter, after Carra claimed he was ‘laughing’ at the benched shot stopper on Sunday afternoon.
Ramsdale was an unused substitute during Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with rivals Tottenham, as summer signing David Raya was the preferred choice to the England international.
Despite having lost out on on being in that No.1 spot for the Gunners, Ramsdale showed class, praising teammate Raya with an applause for a save of the season contender during the North London Derby.
During post-match analysis, on Sky Sports, Carragher said: ‘I thought it was like the Oscars, you know when someone loses the Oscar and they start clapping and smiling for the other person. I was laughing when I saw that. He’s absolutely devastated with that really.’
This led to Nick Ramsdale replying to a tweet about Carragher’s comments and said: ‘You are a Disgrace!! Show some class!! My lad has’.
Meanwhile, online commentator Lawrence Bury, also uploaded the same video of Ramsdale’s celebratory reaction, writing: ‘Embarrassing from Ramsdale’.
Ramsdale’s Dad replied to the post, this time with a blunter message, as he wrote: ‘D***’.

Prior to the game, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta talked about his decision to put Ramsdale on the bench, saying it due to how the Gunners wanted ‘to play on the day’.
‘It’s trying to play the way we want to play on the day. I made some calls and left some players on the bench,’ he said on Sky Sports.
In the end, Raya was helpless as he conceded twice but deserved credit to earn a point in the derby especially after that fine save of his.
The hosts opened the scoring through a deflected strike from Bukayo Saka, only to then see Son Heung-Min get the equaliser just before the break.
Arsenal were back in front shortly after the break, with a Cristian Romero hand-ball seeing a penalty awarded, and Saka making no mistake to make it 2-1.
But immediately after, the visitors saw James Maddison picked the pocket of Jorginho to set up Son for his second of the match.
When questioned about Saka copying his celebration, Maddison told SPURSPLAY: “Me and Bukayo had a bit of banter and a bit of trash talking on international duty.
“And I got told he did the darts celebration – he must have still been doing it when I turned him for the first goal I think, so I’ll have a little word with him in there!”
Maddison continued to take aim at Saka when questioned by Sky Sports News after the Premier League fixture.
Asked by reporter Michael Bridge: “A quick 501 at Ally Pally against Bukayo Saka, do you reckon?”
Maddison then responded while laughing: “His action was terrible though, wasn’t it?!”

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta speaking to Sky Sports: “We feel like we lost two points. It’s true there was a lot of change in the dominance of the game, but especially when we had more control and more dominance in the game, and we score the goal, they score straight away.
“We started quite good, we scored the goal, but straight away we concede. So, emotionally, that was a difficult one to take. I thought we struggled for a period of 10 or 15 minutes later, we lacked a lot of composure with the ball and we made it a basketball game. But I think in the end we pushed, pushed and pushed, but couldn’t get the win.
“The hardest thing to do is put the ball in the net. We’ve done it twice but I think we conceded two really poor goals. At this level, they’re going to punish you because they’ve got top players.
“Obviously we are disappointed with the way we conceded the goals but of course this is football and you have to live with that.”
On Declan Rice’s injury: “He looked really uncomfortable with a back issue and we had to take him off.”
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou speaking to Sky Sports: “I thought performance-wise we had to show a bit of everything we’ve got. They’re a good, top team and we had to defend at times. But I thought we showed real courage and bravery just to keep playing our football. We certainly pressed aggressively.
“I thought we were unfortunate with both of the goals, an own goal and a penalty, but great character to come from behind, in a difficult place, twice.
“That’s four away games we’ve had in difficult venues. We’ve gone behind at three of them but had a brilliant response. They’re a top team, particularly here at home. We know how hard they are to beat.
“This side is growing. In terms of our football, we’re still at the beginning but I’m so impressed with the character we’re showing, particularly as a group.
“It’s just further evidence that we’re having an encouraging start. We’re only six games into building our side here.”
On Arsenal’s penalty decision: “I didn’t see it. I saw the one that was given yesterday. I don’t know what the handball rules are. It’s pretty much if it hits your hand it’s a penalty these days, even with guys shooting from a metre away.
There was plenty of reaction as Ramsdale’s Dad calls Carragher ‘a disgrace’ while Maddison makes a dig at Saka copying his celebration…
ON RAMSDALE’S DAD
@GoonerGirl1969: He thinks it’s a fake applause, when everyone knows it was a genuine acknowledgement, by your son, of a brilliant save.
@ClockEndJodie: Good for you 👏🏻👏🏻 not that you need to justify anything but everyone knows what a good guy Aaron is…take Aaron trying to fight his way through the Arsenal players after the Community Shield to celebrate with Matt Turner…absolute classy guy 🫶🏻
@JJames_2020: Well said sir. Remember this is from someone who spat at a teenage girl.
@UnitedRo4d: Anyone else notice @SkySportsPL has started to regularly mock players & clubs this season? It used to be a reputable sports broadcaster. Now it’s just a bunch of pathetic mugs sticking the knife in to players & clubs who are having a rough time. Wouldn’t mind but they’ve hardly got Messi & Ronaldo as pundits. They’ve become a poor man’s Paddy Power.
@Lloydy3217: Carragher spits at children. What would he know about class.
@FulhamTransfer: You tell em!
@ARSENAL_THERAP: Aaron is a class act and a professional. Jamie… you know
@AniMul665: Ignore it – true Gooners know and love Rambo. If anyone is going to fight for the shirt it’s Aaron
ON MADDISON:
@DaBaby29798755: Best signing in a long, long, time.
@WilliamRGC26: This response is fantastic
@SpursyDave: I absolutely adore James Maddison – Some player, some personality 🎯🌟
