Portsmouth player Ebou Adams in tears at full time after his side lost 6-1 to QPR

Portsmouth player Ebou Adams was in tears at full time after his side lost 6-1 to QPR, making it six games without a win for Pompey.

Paul Smyth, Rayan Kolli and Richard Kone all netted braces for the Londoners, with the result leaves them within a point of the bottom three. John Swift got one back for Pompey when it was 3-0. Queens Park Rangers are 12th, and 10 points form the playoff places.

John Mousinho kept his Pompey players in the dressing room for nearly an hour after the game before speaking to the media.

John Mousinho said, talking to BBC Radio Solent:

“We conceded three goals in quick succession really early on and they felt particularly poor today.

“There is loads to unpick, we know what we’ve produced today is nowhere near good enough and if you come away from any game losing by that margin you know there’s a lot of soul searching to do.

“Everybody has been talking in there but it’s my responsibility with how we set the boys up today and what we’ve produced which is why head coaches get hired and why they’re the ones that lose their jobs, and I need to take everything I’ve spoken about and heard in there and hopefully turn it into something positive.”

QPR head coach Julien Stephan told BBC Radio London:

“It was not our best offensive collective performance. I think we have had some better games collectively since the start of the season, but it was really, really clinical today.

“The first three shots, in fact, were three goals, which completely changed the momentum of the game and the balance of power, giving a lot of confidence, even if they managed to score once before half-time.

“But we restarted very well in the second half with the willingness to continue to attack and to score more goals.”

Here’s how fans reacted with Portsmouth player Ebou Adams in tears at full time after his side lost 6-1 to QPR…

@Guardthebee: Take this from a Derby fan, Ebou gives everything and cares deeply. He’s a wonderful human being and was a credit to our football club. Hope he keeps you up.

@DanielE64141682: Give him the arm band

@84Knight: He’s about the only player who shouldn’t feel like he’s let us down or take any blame. Pathetic from our team/coaches that it’s left to a kid (Blair) and QPR players to consol him. Where’s the manager? Coaching staff? Captain? All first in line with the applause and fist pumps.

@Son189802: Seeing Ebou like that was a hard watch! Only player who showed a bit of fight & passion. He has nothing to be ashamed of. Fuck every other one of them! #Pompey

@JK_dcfc: This has put a dampener on a good day for me 🙁 fuckin love Ebou #dcfc #dcfcfans

@jakemeyers2015: My Captain 🫡 He did the same against Derby on Monday night, you can tell how much he loves #Pompey already.

@Clarkeyboy12345: I fucking love this bloke hope he agrees to stay when we go down and we give him the armband and we build a team around him

@kadcfcoutlookc1: Remember when he reacted like this after we lost 4-0 to qpr last season, Genuinely cares about the club and the fans he plays for

@TheLukeBeck: Not nice too see. That man gives you everything on that pitch! Hopefully can keep Pompey up and see that smile again! Ebou ❤️

@AnalyticsAbi: Before the game today our manager said to Sky “after two games at home it will be nice to have a change of scenery” well maybe the change of scenery should be permanent! Time to go! #pompey

@PFCNoah: No excuse not to sack him, love him and everything he’s done for the club but it’s time to go. Keep him and we’re down simple as, just gamble on a new manager bounce and rip the club out from top to bottom in the summer. #MousinhoOut #EisnersOut

@_PompeyArg: Do you understand that WE ARE NOT RELEGATED? Let the manager know that his team is playing worse with each game. I don’t mean to criticize him, but I truly feel his time as manager of this club is over. THANK YOU.
