The game itself saw Nahki Wells snatch all three points for Liam Manning’s Robins with his second goal in as many games.
The host were ahead on 12 minutes after Blackburn defender Danny Batth was booked for a foul on Sinclair Armstrong 20 yards out and free-kick specialist Scott Twine sent a right-footed shot past Aynsley Pears.
Rovers were level five minutes before half time, Makhtar Gueye heading a Tyrhys Dolan cross against the inside of a post with Andreas Weimann on the rebound.
In the second half, Wells dinked the ball over the onrushing ‘keeper, only for it to be cleared off the line, but shortly after, he made no mistake, putting City ahead.
Bristol City boss Liam Manning told BBC Radio Bristol:
“We took a bit of a hiding at their place earlier in the year so to respond today and win the game with two outstanding moments of quality is really pleasing.
“I’ve worked with Scott before so it’s not my first season seeing him do it. He’s done it numerous times. He relishes that. He steps up in the big moments and delivers.
“We played Wednesday, had a day less in recovery and the lads were flat out on their feet at the end which speaks volumes of what we’ve got in the group and the behaviours we want.
“We’ve dropped points from winning positions too many times this season so I’m pleased the lads saw it out.”
Liam Manning, per Sky Sports: “You cannot afford to leave things like that to the end of the season. Of course, it can all come down to budgets, but I love having Nahki in the squad.
“He is the consummate professional and a big influence on our younger players. He would like to have scored more goals this season and we had a chat about that not so long ago, but his work on behalf of the team is exceptional.”
Blackburn head coach John Eustace told BBC Radio Lancashire:
“The spirit the boys showed was outstanding – we had a couple of players drop out just before kick-off.
“We want to be competitive and play our style of football and against a good team be difficult to play against and I thought we were.
“It’s important we stick together and keep playing like that and when we get a few more players back from injury and hopefully we can bring two or three good quality players into the group as well things will change.”
John Eustace, per Sky Sports: “We will bounce back. I was proud of the efforts of the players and it’s important we don’t get too disappointed.
“The play-off race will remain tight. Bristol City have invested well and should be involved.
“I am confident that we will stay in the fight. It will help if we can make the right additions to the squad.”

Twitter users reacted with police contacted about trouble as a video emerges online after Bristol City v Blackburn…
@PlainoldDTwaine: That looks like an older man and possibly his son getting picked on by these cowards…. come on @ASPolice there’s enough evidence here to catch this lot…. that could have been my elderly father under there…. absolute disgrace @BristolCity…
@BWaddington: That looks like a Blackburn fan getting filled in by a group of Bristol fans to be honest.
@ShDesign21: I wouldn’t say that was clashing, Id say it was 8 wet wipes beating up an old man
@YouAintSeenMe1: @ASPolice if you can’t catch this lot attacking in numbers what appears to be an old fella&kid or 2, you need investigating yourselves…… And zero reason @BristolCity shouldn’t be banning these twats from Monday either. We’ve a great City but too many idiots.. make it 5/6 fewer
@JuceeRob: All on camera. Enjoy the ban fellas 😆
@Wayne16166069: Cowardly bastards about 8 of them on 1 lad.
@SurLiott9: Little spineless Tossers.
@ColinPep1: I miss the days when football got rival supporters chatting, bit of camaraderie of a shared experience. Just a chat about football with people you’ve never met before and probably won’t bump into again, different people from different places but sharing the same passion
@stokieadam: The one thing I’ve never understood. Fighting against someone because you support a different football team, probably because you were born in different places. I have never been able to wrap my head around that mentality.
@Nick_beepbeep: Def looks like an older man getting a kicking. So so wrong 😡😡😡😡
@PAFCRyan: There’s alot to unpack with this, not sure what’s more tragic, the freak with the scarf cooling the guy on the floor down or the fact that a bunch of 70 year olds were able to break this up no bother 😂😭
@Norfolk_Kez: Why though? What’s the point? I get pissed when my team lose but, when you support a club like Blackburn or Bristol (or Norwich) you can’t be fighting every time they lose because it happens too much! They’re supporting their local team which is great and not many people can say.
@josalt76: wow @BristolCity should be ashamed of yourselves, hope these 5 get what they deserve, embarrassing
@ljs69_: Should all be ashamed of yourselves. Starting on a pair whilst you’re in a group just to “have it out” and kicking a man whilst he’s down- I hope to god that wasn’t a father and son. Absolute scum bags- how poor
@elliotgbbennett: These idiots don’t deserve to be anywhere near the club. #BristolCity @BristolCity
@__This__Is__Me: @BristolCity – you might want to identify these pr1cks.
@Josh13589425: Looks like an old man with his son getting attacked by a bunch of pusssies. (Not one of them can throw hands either).
@Craigyrobbo81: 5 lads picking on an old bloke and his kid then shit themselves when a couple of other old blokes turn up. Utter wankers.
@BristolCity @ASPolice out of the lot make sure you get this one pic.twitter.com/OcZ3STqZ8a
