Mauricio Pochettino turns defiant as Chelsea fans take to boo players after the goalless draw at Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.
His side dropped more points in a 0-0 draw and while Ben Chilwell held his hands up in apology as he went over to the away end at full time, the defender faced abusive language and loud boos from a number of angry and frustrated fans.
Pochettino was without 12 first team players due to injury and has since said the supporters’ expectations were too high as the manager questioned what he was supposed to do in the circumstances.
Some sections of this fan base are so brain dead it kills me.

Chelsea came away frustrated by Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium with Nicolas Jackson hitting a post in first-half before Robert Sanchez made a big save to deny Dango Ouattara.
Levi Colwill also saw his goal ruled out for offside after Raheem Sterling had his free-kick come back off the woodwork to leave Chelsea sitting 14th in the Premier League.

‘If you invest money there is expectation,’ Pochettino said. ‘If you don’t win, it’s normal the fans are not happy.
‘But what I can tell the fans is the circumstances, we cannot change. The reality we cannot change. We have too many players [injured]. We are a team that will be strong if we are all together. With all the squad fit, we can compete for everything.

‘Why is it different for us? It’s because we don’t have all the squad available from the beginning of the season. What can we do?
‘For me, there’s nothing to say. The fans can do whatever they want. We know what we need to do. We are strong in our belief, but we have 12 [players] injured today. Then we have three or four young guys on the bench. I’m going to cry? I’m going to complain? I need to accept this, the challenge, and keep being positive.
‘We are not going to change. We have our opinion, we have our reality. We assess our team under our opinion, under our reality and with all the circumstances. We are doing very good things, more than the people can expect. But Chelsea’s expectation is always to win.
‘I can understand the emotion, the emotion is of course to complain because we want to win. The fans for sure are going to help the team Sunday to win the game at Aston Villa.’
‘What can I do?’ Pochettino said when questioned if he was concerned. ‘I need to keep believing.
‘If you say to me we have all of our players, our signings, no injured players and maybe we cannot win this game, okay maybe I can say “yes maybe we need to think in a different way”, but with all the circumstances I think we cannot lie to the people.
‘Of course we are Chelsea but this squad is new and needs to first of all understand and feel what it means to be a player of Chelsea. If you create expectation and then you do not achieve it’s normal that we find different excuses.’

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, speaking to BBC Sport, said: “I’m really happy with the performance. I think the game was quite level. Both teams had their chances. Overall I think we had very good individual performances and finished the game even better. There were moments later on where we thought the game could be ours.
“I think the tendency of the game went to our side especially from 75-90 minutes. We were pushing a lot and had most of the chances. We have to respect that hit the post in the fist-half and the free-kick so both teams had their chances.”
On Lewis Cook: “Lewis was amazing. He had a tough job covering Enzo (Fernandez) who is an amazing player. Without the ball he was very aggressive and on the ball he was very calm. Even at the end he was overlapping like a winger. He showed great energy, it’s very good news.”
On Lloyd Kelly: “I had no doubt, he has been training really well. He performed really well in the centre-back position and he helped us see out the game at the left-back position.”
On still being without his first Premier League victory: “Today was our best game I would say overall. We still didn’t score but we were close to beating a very very good team like Chelsea. We have to continue but the plus three points is much more important. We have to keep pushing and believing in what we are doing.”
Twitter users reacted as Pochettino turns defiant after Chelsea fans take to boo players after the draw at Bournemouth…
@TweetWithWolves: It’s young fans that have only known top class players and winning, they don’t understand that it takes years to develop such a young side, and booing them will only hurt their confidence which is self defeating, Boo the owners if you’re unhappy because it’s their transfer policy
@Kjhug11: It’s okay to be upset but love your team and support them. Some of our fans are terrible. If you only care about wins not your team go support city plenty of bandwagon fans there
@Gemma_Manns: I do think this was a tiny minority, certainly no one near me! He got a fantastic reception when came on and his name being sung when took the corner etc
@joshcm777: We have 5 points from 5 games. This is after spending £500m and averaging one win a month from last November onwards. It’s not just embarrassing; it’s humiliating now. And the players need to know performances like today can’t keep being the status quo. They got off lightly.
@GavinskiKLTFC: And I thought the “fans” on twitter were bad enough 😩…….. success really turned the fans of this club into a right bunch of c**ts. Booing your own players or cheering when they get subbed off never sits well with me.
@JamesFleury91: … and these are season ticket holders too. Embarrassing. Give them time ffs.
@BenRCFC: Personally I wouldn’t be part of this, but it wasn’t a performance worth clapping either. Paying fans are entitled to their opinions and frustrations and I’m not here to tell someone what to do. (Personally for me respect to Chilly for coming over to apologise)
@BlaneSmith24: Some Chelsea fans are idiots! Ben Chilwell has done nothing wrong, he’s worked for the team and wears the badge with pride. People just moaning for the sake of moaning grow up and realise we are in a transition and trying to find our feet.
@charliegreen66: Brain dead for watching a heartless bunch of cunts hardly try for 90 mins. Get to fuck you knobhead
@carlgavin19: You’ve got to be brain dead to think there booing chilly and also film yourself shouting into a camera after games , this guys both
@tom46951230: The people calling him names. Go support another club, player who gives everything for this club and has taken on being captain. Put more respect on his name. Yeah he might not always perform to standard you want but he performed well as soon as he came on
