Pochettino and Jackson ‘rows’ with fan before Brentford troll Chelsea with taunting tweet

Mauricio Pochettino and Nicolas Jackson ‘rows’ with a fan before Brentford troll Chelsea with a taunting tweet after the Bee’s 2-0 win.

The reported incident took place with the scoreline goalless at the break, with the Blues dominating the opening 45 minutes.

A fan could be heard shouting in Jackson’s direction, with some close to the incident claiming his words included the phrase: “Why don’t you score a goal?”

Jackson is said to have reacted in an angry manner, with Pochettino saying he spoke to the supporter to diffuse the situation.

Pochettino said: “It was a moment we all felt frustrated because we played really well, created chances and didn’t score.

“This moment was a little bit down in energy in the stadium. He arrived to me, we were talking about the position on the pitch, to find some solution and give some direction to him.

“Because the atmosphere was really really calm, one fan say ‘oh wake up’ and start to abuse a little bit — I don’t say abuse, but it is abusing — and for Nico, he loses a little bit of focus and I say ‘hey, come on, be focused here.’

“I say ‘stop talking in this way, we need to support the players, stay behind the team’ but that’s it. Nothing more.

“It was very respectful and the fan was very respectful. He only say ‘wake up’ and the player took it in a bad way which is only normal because the player wanted to score, to provide a good thing but nothing wrong.”

Chelsea also saw their coach Jesus Perez receiving marching orders towards the end after an argument erupted between the two benches and with boos heard around the ground come full time as the hosts extend their poor run, picking up just one win from their last 13 league home games.

Despite Chelsea spending over Β£1 billion since the takeover of Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital in May 2022, Pochettino still feels his currently lacks sufficient firepower with players out injured.

When questioned if there were enough goals in the squad, Pochettino said: “It is obvious that at the moment, so far, no.

“But bad luck — Nkunku has proved he can score in the big leagues like Bundesliga, was injured in the last pre-season game. This type of thing didn’t help. Then we need to recover Broja, in different circumstances Nicolas Jackson was affected for different reasons. He is young, he arrived this season and needs time to adapt.”

Brentford manager Thomas Frank speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “You always enjoy a win. I think the first half performance, I don’t think we were that good actually. Chelsea did well and were definitely on the front foot. Our usual high pressure was not good. On the ball we weren’t cool enough, not enough quality.

“I asked the players for belief at half-time, there were definitely opportunities to get some passes in and play with Chelsea as well. Then, of course, we stepped up massively on the defensive side.

“We scored two goals, the first came a little out of nothing and then a big counter-attacking opportunity afterwards.”

“First half we didn’t push up high enough. We know our structure is so good, and the discipline between the lads is so good, so we were calm while defending which is the really good thing.”

On Brentford’s record at Stamford Bridge: “It’s impressive. I think sometimes it’s a coincidence that we’ve managed to win here three times. It’s very impressive that we can do that being Brentford, given the players and the budget Chelsea have.

“First half I would say Chelsea were good, and you can see the potential in the squad, that’s why I think they have a great future ahead of them.”

Here’s how fans reacted after Pochettino and Jackson ‘rows’ with a fan before Brentford troll Chelsea with a taunting tweet…

@carefreecammy: It’s what everyone does these days expect Todd Boehly’s Chelsea, sorry lads.

@_MartinelliFC: This admin need a raise 🀣

@CFCDUBois: We’ve let tiny tinpot clubs banter us like this. I no longer recognise our club

@81beesfan: These are the greatest of days – winning away at Chelsea in the Premier League three seasons on the trot. Well done to Thomas and the team. We’re all so proud of you and our club.

@Asadali6678: We’ve become such a banter club, embarrassing

@arealnegroo: how do we let small teams do this to us? 😭

@Bewhatyoubebro: Embarrassed at home to Forest, Embarrassed at home to Brentford, couldn’t score a goal against Bournemouth, Embarrassed against West Ham, Embarrassed against Aston Villa, we’re losing our identity as a serious club thanks to the choices of those above.

@jimmystitch: Not hard tbf πŸ˜‚

@MarkLundie1: Amazing performance from the Bees. Great to watch!

@JImblee1: Been trying to sum up today’s win but words don’t really do justice to the spirit that exists among this group of players. Feel very proud to support a team rather than a collection of individuals. Win, lose or draw they always give everything. 🐝🐝🐝

@stjamesfcoms: Great result. My late Dad and former Bees Manager Tommy Cavanagh (with whom the bees won promotion back in the day from the 4th div to 3rd) was a great believer in installing in players to believe in themselves, have confidence and passion. The Bees have a great manager.

@Tenterdenbee: Well done Bees! Pulled off a remarkable win considering the squad values and skills on show. We worked so hard for that clean sheet and took our chances. 🐝🐝🐝

@Gigi6630: Amazing! My late Dad would be so proud. So sad he is not here to see them in the Premiership and doing so well. He went to all the matches at Griffin Park we lived directly opposite in Brook Road South. Can hear him saying Up the Bees now 🐝

@pulisleftknee: I can’t even be mad at this point 😭🀣🀣

@AbzSemtex: Getting bantered by Brighton and Brentford regularly is insane, Todd Boehly what have you done to that institution

@Pochettiniac: Poch, I’m sorry bro but you gotta own up.
