Pissed up George Honeyman sings Queen song as Hull mock ESL after promotion

A pissed up George Honeyman hilariously sings a Queen song as Hull City mock the ESL after sealing promotion over the weekend.

The Tigers celebrated their promotion back to the Championship at the first attempt on Saturday afternoon following a 2-1 win over Lincoln City.

Mallik Wilks kept his nerve from the penalty spot after Josh Magennis put them in the lead, before Lewis Montsma levelled.

First, the club’s official Twitter account put out a brilliantly funny dig at the short-lived saga that was the European Super League.

After their victory that secured their return to the second tier, Hull City tweeted: “Hull City can confirm that it has formally begun the procedures to withdraw from Sky Bet League One and join 23 clubs in a new competition, the Sky Bet Championship.”

The Big Six ditched the proposal tournament after a few days following a strong backlash from the football world.

Judging by the videos on social media, the festivities were well and truly underway among the players and staff, and they even got a little cheeky on Twitter.

The official Hull City account posted videos of the squad singing numerous iconic bangers such as Mr Brightside and Wonderwall, but the best and most hilarious video of the evening came when George Honeyman who took centre-stage.

The former Sunderland player strutted around the team’s circle, doing his best Freddie Mercury impression as the squad sang I Want To Break Free by Queen.

Hull’s Grant McCann: “I’m over the moon for everybody at the football club, particularly for Assem and Ehab (Allam) for their backing of me in the summer. So I thank them for that.

“My staff and the players have been outstanding, it’s been a real team effort. The players have taken hit upon hit and criticism upon criticism when they have lost games, and they’ve responded.

“It’s been a tough season, particularly without having any fans in the ground and it’s a shame they weren’t there today to witness that. Hopefully sometime soon we can get together and have a proper party.

“For us today, we’re just delighted to get over the line. I made a real point to the players at the hotel about concentrating on the performance. I knew, deep down, it was all about the win, and we’ve done it. I couldn’t be more proud of everybody.”
