Phil Foden stuns fans showing off his new Gazza Euro 1996 haircut

Manchester City’s Phil Foden reveals his new Gazza Euro 1996 haircut which is quickly going viral across all social media sites.

Famously described by his boss Pep Guardiola as the “most, most, most talented player I have ever seen in my career as a manager”, the 21-year-old is now gearing up for his first major international tournament at senior level.

Foden, who inspired England to glory at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in 2017, could be named in Gareth Southgate’s starting line-up for the Three Lions’ Euro 2020 opener against Croatia this Sunday.

But now the classy young midfielder looks to be sporting something different when it comes to his appearance a little different this summer?

A photo was posted on social media late on Sunday night which appears to show Foden getting his hair dyed with blonde expected to come out after leaving it on and then washing.

Gazza famously had bleach blonde hair during the much-loved tournament 25 years ago.

Paul Gascoigne is remembered for scoring one of England’s most famous goals of all time against Scotland in the second group game.

Foden was a key component of the City squad which regained the Premier League title, retained the Carabao Cup for a fourth successive season and reached a first-ever Champions League final.

The 21-year-old’s own huge impact was further recognised when he was named as the 2020/21 Premier League Young Player of the Season.

Former Man City winger Barnes believes Foden is only going to go from strength to strength over the next few years.

“Is there much more to come from Phil? Absolutely!,” Barnes asserted.

“Obviously, we had the great loss at the end of last season of David Silva who was one of my favourite players, but Phil is now playing with such confidence.

“He has been playing more and more games, scoring goals, getting stronger, and is so direct.

“It has been great to see the amount of game time that Phil got this season because I think he deserves those opportunities and deserved his place in the side.

“And looking at the international picture, it’s look very rosy for England’s midfield players thanks to players like Phil.

“I think in players like Phil, England have now got players with great vision and who are good on the ball and that’s just what we needed.

“It’s so good for England that we have those sorts of players that when they play together they have a good understanding.

“We need those players in the team to win games.”

Ally McCoist has revealed Paul Gascoigne is now in a “great place” after years of battling alcohol addiction.

The Rangers legends teamed up for a radio show ahead of the Euro 2020 Championships.

McCoist has admitted he had worried for his friend in recent years which has seen him undergo spells in rehab.

However, he told of his delight at seeing Gazza in such good form when he spent over an hour interviewing him for talkSPORT.

McCoist, 58, said: “It’s the best I have seen him and the best I have heard him in years.

“He was on the Italian celebrity jungle and when I got him he was self-isolating in a hotel in Milan.

“I got him on the Zoom and I was chuffed to bits because he looked brilliant and he sounded brilliant.

“When I spoke to him I could tell he was in a great place, he was firing on all cylinders.

“I mean I was asking him questions about Gareth Southgate and he was telling me stories about the time he bought his dad a boat and all that.

“He was on brilliant form and I was delighted. It was just magic to catch up with him.

“I did some preparation beforehand and I had my questions but then I was thinking to myself ‘I won’t need this’.

“I think I looked at my paper once, I was just asking him a question and away he went and that was him for five or 10 minutes.”

During the interview, Gascoigne, 54, joked about former England team-mate Gareth Southgate landing the national team job despite missing a crucial penalty in the Euro 1996 semi-final.

He said: “I don’t get this Coisty, I need the country to help me here.

“I scored my penalty and Gareth Southgate missed his. I’ve ended up in rehab and he’s ended up the manager of England and done a £20,000 pizza advert. What did I do wrong?

“I told Gareth that and he just laughed.”

Gascoigne was forced to quit the Italian reality show after dislocating his shoulder but described it as a “great experience” and added that he would like to take part in the UK version, something he was banned from.

He endured a three year spell with Rangers quickly becoming a fans favourite as he helped them win a record-equalling nine in a row league titles.

In his debut season, he was voted Scottish player of the year and also had memorable moments playing for England, including a goal against Scotland.
