One champion and three relegated in higher levels of non league

One team was crowned league champion and three others were relegated in the higher levels of non league football this week.

Dover Athletic’s eight-year stay in the National League came to an end as they fell to a 2-0 defeat at home to Yeovil Town on Saturday.

Ben Barclay grabbed the Glovers’ first on the 18th minute, before Dale Gorman added a second not too long after the restart with a free-kick, while Dover’s Michael Gyasi saw a second-half goal controversially ruled out.

The Whites’ day got worse after hearing that second-bottom King’s Lynn picked up a 3-0 win at Aldershot Town, meaning – had Dover won – they would have kept their stay in the top tier of English non-league football for another week at least.

Another two teams to be relegated came in step four of non league football within the past week, with Kendal Town and Market Drayton Town losing their place in the Northern Premier League West Division.

19th place Kendal travelled to Prescot Cables who sat 18th in the table, however it was the hosts who picked up all three points with a 1-0 win and it sent both their opponents and Market Drayton down.

Market Drayton went down in midweek after losing 4-1 at home to Kidsgrove Athletic, and went on to lost 7-0 away to league leaders Warrington Rylands.
