Objects were thrown as fans clash, with police involved, after Jack Rudoni’s goal sees Coventry beat Stoke in the 94th minute.
The Sky Blues go eight points clear at the top of the Championship, and nine clear of 3rd place Millwall, edging closer to Premier League promotion, with 11 games to go.
Haji Wright had Frank Lampard’s side ahead on 12 minutes, before Ben Gibson had Stoke level in first-half added time, with Stoke’s only shot on goal.
Stoke keeper Tommy Simkin had an attempted clearance to forget, rushed ahead to Brandon Thomas-Asante’s ball forward, only for it to fall into the path of Rudoni, and his first-time finish tricked its way towards goal, Gibson unable to stop it from going in.

Imagine losing in the added time you created by time wasting. Ouch! Should’ve been out of sight by half time though.. #PUSB pic.twitter.com/QqblsVDbL5

Coventry City head coach Frank Lampard told BBC CWR:
“Not every day is like this and you have to enjoy the moment when it comes. I enjoyed it today because I loved our performance – it was so, so good throughout the game that if we hadn’t have got what we deserved it would have been a travesty.
“From minute one and how we played the first half, we should been two or three goals up. There was real quality in our play, good pressure from us off the ball and we gave them nothing, other than the goal. Apart from that, throughout the game they didn’t have another shot on target or any real threat.
“So when you have that feeling of ‘oh, it’s going to be one of those days’, but it flips because of the character of the boys, it makes it a special day.”
Lampard, per Sky Sports:
“We were fantastic today. One of our best home performances from the first minute. We should have been two or three goals ahead at half-time for our play, but football sometimes kicks you where you don’t want it to.
“They get a free-kick in their own half, launch it in the box, get their first corner and score and that’s obviously disheartening.
“But the performance in the first half was brilliant. There was no answer to what we were doing for them.
“You just start to worry when the game goes on and we play that well and it’s 1-1, but yeah, the character of the team to get it over the line in the end and get what we fully deserved was brilliant.”
Stoke City head coach Mark Robins:
“We didn’t deserve anything because we were really poor. We didn’t get going in the first half, I thought we didn’t get close enough to them, we didn’t get any real contact on them and we gave them the freedom of the park to be fair.
“Tommy made some really good saves in the first half that kept us in it.
“We got a goal back and got back into the game. In the second half we were much better. And when it gets to the stage that it did, you just have to see the game out.
“Tommy has to learn to come out and clear the whole lot out. If he does that, we draw the game potentially, but also you have to have the help, support and communication around you.”
Robins, per Sky Sports:
“We didn’t deserve anything for the way we were in the first half. We were poor. Having said that, we get back in the game through a bit of luck.
“From our point of view, we didn’t get close enough to them so we had to alter things. That got us a bit more of a foothold in the game.
“Awful game, but it was a game where you’ve got to lift balls in behind them and run, get crosses in where you can, it just doesn’t resemble anything that we do.
“We get to two minutes before the end of the game at 1-1 and to conjure up a defeat is an absolute joke, and that comes from a number of factors.
“Primarily, a young goalkeeper, but you’ve got experience in front of him who have to deal with it. He made brilliant saves, some really good decisions, but then occasionally gets one wrong, he needs help with that, he will learn.
“First half we didn’t get near anybody, but second half we were a little bit better and you expect to see the game out at that stage but not us.
“We took part in the game second half. First half we were bystanders, didn’t get near them, and they could have been two or three goals up.
“We make errors that no other team in the division makes.”
