There were limbs as Ollie Banks scores a 99th minute winner away at Morecambe to send York City back to top of the National League.
The Shrimps saw Jack Nolan struck a post, Chris Popov send a rebound over, and Miguel Azeez with a big chance in the first half.
However, the Minstermen improved after the break, helped by the hosts going to 10-men on the 54th minute for Paul Lewis, only for Alex Hunt to see his penalty saved by Jamal Blackman.
All that hard work from Morecambe was undone right at the end when Banks sealed a huge win to send the away end wild.
99TH MINUTE WINNER!!! 🤯🤯🤯

York boss Stuart Maynard said, per York Press: “Well deserved, it would have been heartbreak today if we didn’t win it,” Maynard said after the match.
“It reminded me a little bit of Halifax, when you don’t get the first goal in these games or a team is sat in a low block, you’ve got to give them huge credit because they defended their box with their lives.
“I can’t even think how many times we crossed the ball today, and how many chances we had within their six-yard box and it was just headed wide or the goalie just made a save.
“You have to give them credit, but what we know about this group from all season is that we keep going to the end.
“There’s a calmness, we don’t change the structure, we don’t just throw it into the box and everything we do is for a reason.
“We get to the final third and then cross the ball, and it’s paid off.
“Whilst there’s still time on the clock, I believe in this group so much because there’s a calmness.
“Josh misses that header, we reset back off of H [Harrison Male], we could’ve hooked that back on and made it a battle again but we reset with H, end up at the other side with [Mark] Kitching, get to the byline and keep crossing the ball, keep peppering their goal.
“It’s a huge credit to the lads, the emotions are running high in these games and with the late kick-off as well, we don’t like it at this stage of the season.
“You’d rather just get your game played because there’s a lot of time around the hotel and on the detail, but on the flip side it probably helped us a little bit to recover from the [last] game.”
He continued: “We have to be disciplined, but I’m really pleased because it’s another three points, another game ticked off and we’ve broken records today.
“We said it to the group and had it up on the screen, I think it was 2014 one of the records and 2009 with the other record.
“We put it up on the screen and the achievement to get close to that with a league this relentless and this tough is incredible.
“To keep the level of performance where it’s at, I’m really proud for the fans and for the football club again to break that record.
“We’ve got to keep going now, we’ve done nothing, we’ve broken a record but it means nothing, you get nothing for it apart from going into York’s history books, which I’m proud of and us as a management team [are proud of].
“But we’ve done nothing, there’s nothing won and we’ve got to make sure we keep going to the next game now, Boreham Wood is our sole focus now.
“We said to the lads in there to enjoy this, get back on the coach and recover because we’ve got to go again on Tuesday with the same energy levels and quality.”
Here’s how fans reacted amid the limbs as Ollie Banks scores a 99th minute winner to send York back to top of National League…
@geoffclphm: 24! 24 undefeated! #YCFC
@HLTCO: York City haven’t lost a game in the league since October 1st. Yesterday away at Morecambe, they scored this 99th minute winner to stay top of the table by a point. Celebrations like this in the 5th tier of the game. 🥰
@LW_Minsterman: Note to Rochdale fans: Goals that occur late in games within the time allocated by the officials still count, and are just as valid, as goals scored earlier in games. #ycfc #rafc
@AshGrant: Not a single body on the pitch, games gone
@SaxtonYorkie: Harrison Male – get that new contract in front of him Monday morning. He’s one of us #ycfc
@roguez9: Male there hahaha love it
@YCSP84: 99th minute. City desperately searching for a winner & where would you expect to find striker Josh Stones? In the box begging for a decent cross? Nope. He knew exactly where to be & what a ball in for banks! Priceless. What a player. What a team. #ycfc
@willscaife14:
Never a red!
Never a pen!
Play until York win!
Buying the league!
Paying off the refs!
Match Fixers!
Bottling the league because of one bad performance!
This Rochdale head loss is generational #ycfc
@adamk_92: Morning everyone. Special good morning to the salty Rochdale fans who think we’re paying the refs 😅 #ycfc
@spattinson001: Wow talk about leaving it late. Just when you thought we were dropping points we yet again keep going and get the win. Unbelievable mentality from an unbelievable squad! Love this team #ycfc
@CharxRafc: Loving the banter from York fans but it’s wasted on me, I don’t get triggered or bite. You’ll get a nibble with other Dale fans but not me, sorry ladies and gents 😂😂 #RAFC #YCFC
@78ajs: Just back home, great following-we did our bit today 👊🏻Morecambe defended brilliantly getting behind the ball & roughing us up but not much sweeter than scoring deep into added time against a bunch of time wasting bastards! 🤌🏻 Johnson top draw, Kitching my MOTM – Machine #ycfc 🔴🔵
I’m genuinely not taking anything for granted when it comes to York City.
Bitter experience has taught me that.
However what I will say is getting thumped 4-0 away at Gloucester City is now a fading memory.
From the lowest point in our history we are now on the rise! #ycfc pic.twitter.com/iMsmSSBtRH
