Notts County players go viral with ‘beautiful football’ in their stunning win over Leicester, with Brendan Rodgers praising his opposition.
Kairo Mitchell and Aden Baldwin both got on the scoresheet as they recorded an impressive pre-season victory away in a behind closed doors friendly against the Premier League side.
On an incredibly hot summer’s day at the Foxes’ incredible training facility, the Magpies went a goal down when Harvey Barnes capitalised on a one-on-one in the first half.
However Mitchell pulled off a poacher’s effort to restored parity before the break, leaving the stage set for Baldwin to head home the winner in the second half.

Luke Williams’ starting XI were given 60 minutes to put in an impressed shift and they looked assured against a Leicester City side containing the likes of Patson Daka, Ricardo Pereira, Hamza Choudhury and Wesley Fofana.
But it was another first-team regular in Ashley Barnes, who gave the hosts the lead when his side got straight onto a misplaced pass and released him to score past Sam Slocombe.
Though it didn’t take Notts County long to respond with Mitchell seeing a shot tipped wide before scoring from the resultant corner, getting onto City keeper Daniel Iverson’s spilling the cross.
Mitchell came within inches of putting the National League club ahead after the break, sliding in to meet McGregor’s excellent cross but arriving just too late to turn the ball home.
Kyle Cameron saw a header well saved from Ed Francis’ free-kick in the final action before Williams a number of changes including putting on Adam Chicksen and Tobi Adebayo-Rowling, and moments after their introduction the former supplied a stunning cross for the latter. Substitute keeper Jakub Stolarczyk made an excellent save at his near post to keep his side level.
Notts got in front on the 78th minute with Roberts swinging in the perfect free-kick for Baldwin to score with a commanding header.
The hosts came on strong towards the end with Tiernan Brooks making a good save from Ethan Fitzhugh, Kelchi Iheanacho hitting the post and Wanya-Marcal Madavidua bending a shot over.
But Notts held firm preventing Leicester form getting an equaliser.
After the game, Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers gave the Magpies his seal of approval.
“It was a good exercise around the objectives of the game, which is based around fitness. We’re playing against a good side who will do well in the National League,” he told LCFC TV.
“I know Luke well so it was a really good exercise and I’m pleased the players got through it. We want to be better with the ball and have more fluency.”
