Nottingham Forest leave fans outraged over 2024/25 season ticket price spike

Nottingham Forest have managed to leave fans on social media outraged over the 2024/25 season ticket price spike, confirming details on Tuesday afternoon.

The club’s announcement of a 24% increase in season ticket prices for the upcoming campaign has sparked anger with supporters.

The price hike affects various age groups, with some children’s tickets rising from £90 to £190 and 18-year-olds seeing a jump from £190 to £850.

Fans have expressed their disappointment and frustration on social media, describing the move as an ‘utter fucking scandal’.

The club defended the increase by stating that the prices remain competitive within the division, but fans are concerned about paying high prices for Championship football should the get relegated.

The decision has led to a backlash, with some fans questioning the owners’ loyalty and considering giving up their season tickets.

The club has over 10,000 people on their waiting list for season tickets, with a renewal deadline of May 10.

PRICING

For the 2024/25 season, the club has simplified the pricing structure, splitting the stadium into just four pricing zones and into four pricing bands. This new structure will see Youth being categorised by age 14-17, meaning if you’re 13 or younger you will now be eligible to buy a Child ticket which runs from age 4-13. Adult tickets will now be from 18-65 with senior tickets available from age 66+.

With over 10,000 and growing on our newly launched Official Season Card Waiting List, our fanbase is as thriving as ever and a Season Card is the most cost-effective way you can guarantee being at every Nottingham Forest game for the 2024/25 season.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST SUPPORTERS TRUST STATEMENT:

NFST notes the announcement by the club today of very substantial price increases in season card prices for all sections of the City Ground. We bitterly regret both the scale of these increases and the fact that the fan groups making up the new Fan Advisory Board (FAB) have not been properly consulted in advance. We have the following observations:

The Trust conducted an extensive exercise to gather opinion from members and other fans about potential price rises. These views were submitted to the club at the most recent FAB meeting with the overwhelming consensus from being only modest increases in line with inflation would be acceptable

The average price increases actually imposed are totally disproportionate to the current inflation rate

It is accepted that season card pricing at Forest had been at the lower end of that at other Premier League clubs, however such extreme increases over a single season, during the ongoing cost of living crisis, will massively impact a large number of loyal fans and undoubtedly mean that many will now be priced out of renewing – a concern shared with the Trust by many supporters

There is little consistency to the percentage increases for different sections of the ground with no apparent logic or rationale explained for this seemingly arbitrary decision

The significant restriction of youth pricing concessions will impose massive increases on that section of our support who should be being nurtured as the future fanbase of our club

We are concerned that the change for senior concessions from age 65 to 66 could herald future further restrictions, potentially pricing out a group of long standing loyal fans

There is no provision for reduced price increases should the club suffer relegation to the Championship. The club have stated that the intention is to keep the season card pricing amongst the most affordable in the league, this claimed ambition would not be met in the Championship, quite the opposite

The club’s justification for these rises as preparation for the new sustainability rules based around  Squad Cost Ratio (scheduled for the 2025/26 season) is noted, but the relatively modest impact of this single rise (calculated at being in the region of £2m) gives rise to concern that more rises on this scale might be imposed in the future

We strongly disapprove of the implication of the message that over 10,000 fans are waiting in the wings to buy season cards, this is likely to cause anger and offence to those who now can’t afford to renew

The timing of what would in normal circumstances be the very welcome announcement of the introduction of safe-standing is being interpreted as an attempt at a deflection strategy by many supporters

NFST strongly opposes these price increases which will have a negative impact on all match-going fans. We believe that our fans’ incredible support has been a key factor in the remarkable success over recent season. This is no way to reward that contribution. We will be expanding on the views expressed in this statement at the next FAB meeting via our board member who chairs that body. We will continue to work with the Football Supporters’ Association to campaign for affordable pricing across the game.

As mentioned, Nottingham Forest leave fans outraged over the 2024/25 season ticket price spike…

@indieben: Deadline before the Chelsea game… Really fan friendly that, no idea what league we’ll be in. Thanks for being so thoughtful. Way to go weaponising that 10,000 waiting list, I feel really valued.

@SarcasticForest: £850 to watch Ryan Yates lift the 24/25 championship trophy.

@longtallsally19: Kidney for sale. DM me

@NFFCWill22: Some 18 year olds just coming out of sixth form and going into university having to pay £850 for a season ticket? What a joke of a club we are sometimes

@psychoFTID: Over £200 increase on last year for me and my 16yr old son. Absolute bargain! 😳😩

@GaryKirby28:
23% rise on my adult seat in Upper Trent
50% rise for each of my kids’ Youth seats next to me!!
Wow, thanks 😡

@NFFCKatie: Them prices are you taking the piss?

@nffc_mgw: great way to treat loyal support

@JHBnffc: 700 quid to watch Ryan Yates? No thanks lads

@nffc1966:
Upper Trent end
2021 – £365
2022 – £385 = 5.4%
2023 – £465 = 20.7%
2024 – £570 = 22.5%
You have got to be kidding how can you justify 48.6% increase over three seasons.

@WillLang0: April fools was a couple of weeks ago lads, 850 quid 😅

@27tiniesta27: Disgusting. Wish you could renew away membership without the shite home games

@Nffc_bailey: Nearly a grand to watch Yates week in week out. Is this some sort of sick joke.

@KJMsport57: Not a season card holder because they haven’t been available now for two seasons – but these increases are scandalous. How has the club gone from the magical Steve Cooper reign to p+ssing off its most loyal fans?? #nffc

@WHYLER_FOREST: ‘One of the most affordable season tickets in the premier league’ did you take into account the championship if we go down? £700 is ridiculous
