Noni Madueke silences Wolves boos, over an Insta post of his, with a hat-trick as Chelsea win 6-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Cole Palmer also scored a stunner while Joao Felix added a sixth to make it Enzo Maresca’s first Premier League win in charge of the Blues.
Chelsea went in front after 98 seconds, Cole Palmer’s inswinging corner flicked on by Matheus Cunha and an unmarked Nicolas Jackson nodded in at the back post, with Jackson then riling up the home crowd by celebrating in front of them..
Rayan Ait-Nouri managed to set up Cunha to level the scoreline with a low finish from inside the box, he subsequently made a cheeky gesture towards Jackson.
Palmer managed to get Chelsea in front again, a comfortable lob from 30 yards after seeing Jose Sa off his line.
Wolves then made it 2-2 on the verge of half time, with the passionate Jorgen Strand Larsen poking after a free-kick went across goal.
Madueke’s then scored a hat-trick in 14 second-half minutes with Joao Felix side-footing the ball high into the net.
Madueke posted on Instagram stories on Instagram on Saturday night, and tagging in the city Wolverhampton, and said: “Everything about his place is s***.”
It soon took it down from his profile and then posted another message that read: “Damn wrong Instagram account… You lot are fast.”
He was booed by Wolves fans every time he touched the ball.

Wolves fans fuming, immediate boos for both him and Madueke.

Chelsea’s Noni Madueke speaking to PLP: “Today means a lot. I was really just trying to be clever and wait for the right moment. The system allows us to probe and probe and keep the possession higher up the pitch. Maybe in the first half it was a bit more end to end and then we gained control in the second half.”
On his hat-trick: “The first one was a bit lucky. Second one was all Cole Palmer, two brilliant passes, with the weight of pass I just had to step onto the ball and score. I’m made up for the hat-trick but more made up we won the game.”
On Cole Palmer: “It is unbelievable. He is cold and I am fire so it mixes well. He has the ability to always play a pass at the right time. I like to get the ball in space, beat people and make things happen, so luckily today it worked.”
On the first win under Enzo Maresca: “It is obvious [ his approach]. Everyone saw what he did at Leicester last year, he is mad about the details. Even in the first game against City there were some nice patterns of play but we just couldn’t finish it off. It is a great day today, I am happy he has got his first Premier League win for Chelsea and we go onto midweek in Geneva.”
On his thoughts on Wolverhampton now: “I just want to apologise to everyone that I might have offended. It is just a human mistake, an accident. It wasn’t meant to be out on my socials like that. I’m sure Wolverhampton is a nice town and I’m sorry.
“In terms of the boos I expected it but it is part of the game. You have to be able to play under that sort of pressure.”
Maresca to BBC Match of the Day: “In the second half we changed something and it was better. I thought the intention in the first half was good but we lost four or five easy balls from set-pieces and counter attacks. The second half was completely different and we didn’t lose any balls and were in control of the game. The tactical plan in the second half was the same but we were a bit more accurate in the second half and didn’t give away any easy balls.”
On whether Chelsea attack like this every week: “That is the intention but there are teams there that want the same so it’s not easy. In the first 10 minutes we created two or three chances and scored a goal and then we started to lose the ball, but overall a good performance. Absolutely there always things we can improve on. We can learn many things.”
On Noni Madueke: “In the first 10 minutes he had two chances and overall he was very good. The only thing I didn’t like from Noni is the free-kick he gave away before half-time and we can avoid that. especially against a team who are good from set-pieces.”
Maresca speaking to Sky Sports: “The performance was good. I think the first half was not a complete performance, we started well in the first 10 to 15 minutes, we scored a goal and had two or three more chances.
“Then we lost a few easy balls. When you want to build from behind you cannot allow yourself to lose easy balls otherwise you concede set pieces and counter attacks. You need to be more accurate.
“Second half the team was more accurate. They did not give away any easy balls and overall the performance was good.”
On his half time words: “As I said, be more accurate. The intention is always good but we need to be more accurate if we want to play in the way we play. I am lucky to have so many versatile players who can play in lots of different positions.”
On Noni Madueke and his social media post: “I really like Noni. He is that kind of winger that I like. The most important thing he did today was the run back to stop a counter attack at 90 minutes. That shows the mentality of the player and of the team.”
On the quality of the Chelsea squad: “I have said many times that I am happy. We have many players that are versatile so that gives us a lot of options.”
What changed from Man City performance to today? “The Man City performance was very good. We created chances, we play in the same way and the same level that they played. Today the only difference is that we won the game.”
“He’s cold, I’m fire” 🥶🔥

Wolves manager Gary O’Neil to Sky Sports: “Some catastrophic errors, I suppose. The three goals after half time to take it from 2-2 to 5-2 are crazy. We started to lose our way and they punished us badly.
“From going 1-0 down, up until half-time, we were the better side. We equalised and then at 1-1 we were on top. Then we give them a goal from the goal kick. We managed to bounce back again and go to 202. But I didn’t see the second half coming.
“There’s decision-making that needs to be made out there, things we talk about a lot as the group, and we fell below that. We know how brutal the Premier League can be if you drop your guard slightly.
“So 6-2 at home to Chelsea is a tough day for everybody. And a big week for myself, the players and the football club to get as much right in the next week as we can.”
Wolves boss Gary O’Neil speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “[In the second half] we gave them three goals from nothing really. We gave them one in the first half too, their second from our own goal kick. The free kick where we don’t get back under the ball…Crazy ways to concede goals.
“Then the fourth and the fifth where we have people out of position. We lost our way. It was already a crazy first half, we showed moments of quality but regardless of what you do with the ball and in shape, if you give goals away like we did it was going to be a tough afternoon.
“We gave Chelsea a lot of help so there is an awful lot I need to fix.”
Early season mistakes or basic errors? “They were unacceptable from us. I am all for positivity and when the lads do well they know they have done well but from all of us as a group, to concede those three goals as we do is unacceptable.
“There was no left-back in place for the fourth and fifth goals. We allow them to pass straight through the middle of us from a free kick. A crazy way to go from the score being at 2-2. “
“From 15-20 minutes into the game to half time we were the better side. We were in a really good moment. We shoot ourselves in the foot by letting them score from our goal kick and then after half time we come out and give ourselves a tough task.
“From there we weren’t able to wrestle back any control and it is difficult emotionally, you end up out of shape and it looks open and easy for Chelsea.”
On the start of the season: “It’s been a tough start for us, to play Arsenal and Chelsea. We’ve got a lot of things to sort out and then when we come up against teams that are more closely matched to ourselves we will cause them a lot of problems.”
GON: It’s an important week for us coming up
Everyone knows the financial restrictions we have but we’ve raised good funds & we need some help

Here’s how Twitter users reacted as Noni Madueke silences Wolves boos, over his Insta post, with a hat-trick as Chelsea win 6-2…
@AHollyhead: Hot take: We don’t need to buy a winger, just move Ait-Nouri forwards. Desperately need a CB and LB instead #wwfc
@DaleTheGreatx:
Collins, kilman, coady, boly to name but 4 centre halves who have been sold and never replaced.
We have Doherty at right back who has been a fantastic servant but is championship level.
You can’t neglect a defence and expect it to perform.
We will ship 70 goals this season. #wwfc
@wellygoggs: Must give some credit to Larsen and Cunha today, both excellent in the first half and let down by the rest of the team in the second #wwfc
@wwfc_chris: I have an idea, but you probably won’t like it… Instead of spending millions on a winger that’ll be no better than Chiquinho, spend the whole £20m on a rolls-royce centre-back. A proven, big money, top level centre-back!. 🐺 #wwfc
@wansteadwolf: And keep a GK who has conceded 8 in 2 games. We need more than a CB and a GK… we may need a miracle… Where’s this Hobbs fella you keep mentioning… the elite one. Yerson gone from Rolls Royce to Austin Allegro in 2 months with us.
@RobbieMeakin: I don’t care what Gary O’Neil or his players have to say after that. I want to see a post-match presser with Jeff Shi. #WOLCHE #WWFC #Wolves
@DanPez7: Joel Matip and Mario Hermoso are both free agents. Get both and use the money elsewhere
@jakaban: The difference is Chelsea spend billions ,wolves penny pinch and sell their assets and don’t replace them #wwfc
@MarshallSuite: That’s what’s required if we’re to persist with a back 4, even before today’s defensive horror show.
@Tom54591786: Exactly this. Our defence simply isn’t good enough at the moment, the step down from Collins kilman etc to now toti and Mosquera is huge. Dawson isn’t getting any younger either. Forgot replacing Neto for the moment
@OGold80: I think maybe when Jeff promised we’d be more financially free, he actually meant free of finances. Easy mistake to make. Spend some money please, there’s a good chap. #wwfc
