Nolberto Solano speaks on being sacked by Blyth Spartans, who name ex-Prem and EFL keeper David Stockdale as interim manager.
Solano’s last game in charge was a 4-1 defeat at home to Morpeth Town, with goals coming from Jack Foalle (42′), Nathan Buddle (45′), Nic Bollado (59′) and Jack Foalle (79′) while Zack Simpson got a consolation goal right at the end.
The result leaves them sitting 21st, second bottom, in the Northern Premier League – Premier Division, 3 points from 6 games, 0 wins, 3 draws and 3 defeats.
On the 3rd of May 2024, Solano was appointed as manager of Blyth Spartans on a one-year contract, having had dismissed Jon Shaw after being relegated from the National League North.
But it seems Solano couldn’t improve results and his time has come to an end. Concerns from the fanbase remain surrounding the running of the club, who saw Irfan Liaquat takeover as chairman earlier this year.

In a very brief statement, the club said: “Blyth Spartans can confirm that they have agreed to part ways with Nolberto Solano.
“The club would like to place on record its thanks to Nobby for his efforts while at Spartans.
“Assistant manager David Stockdale will take charge of the squad as the interim manager ahead of Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup tie.”
Solano spoke on talkSPORT, saying: “Yeah, like I’m saying, I’m not with any excuse but you know, its been really tough because what happened is when I took it over the team, I spoke of course to the owner in this case with director. We knew it would be a lot of issues because a lot of players left the club. It’s only ten players available. And all my pre season has to do is like on trial players. On trial players. Some players think it’s that easy to play even this division, this level as you know, it’s no professional. We cannot train with them every day. We cannot do any pre season because the boys working.
“But that happened to everyone, you know, but quite a little bit disappointing because we knew before we started we will, period because a building a team take a time. So we start the season no bad. We play away. we drew. We drew. But I know, I understand, you know, sometime in this case with probably the chairman thinking it made me have to change myself, bring somebody up, maybe the team turnaround. But being really difficult time because it’s a lot of, my squad is only, I would say twelve players, 13 players to use, young lad.
“So I don’t know what he’s thinking about. I told him we need players, even doesn’t matter in this level. You need physical players because, you know, in this, this division very good, competitive,.
“I’m really, really disappointed because I want to carry on with all this. It’s a big challenge. Its only us we’re not at the end of the season yet. But I don’t know what the chairman thought…
Interviewer: But Nobby even at that standard. With the greatest respect to the standard, there’s still a lot of money running around non league football. I know down south some of the money running around some teams down here are professional. So you need the money. It’s as simple as that.
Solano: Correct. I don’t want to sound like excuse. If you want to be competitive, it’s simple as that. You need to attract this. It’s about. We played Morpeth on Saturday (was actually Bank Holiday Monday). About five players from the club, from Blyth has to leave the club and move to them because of course players want to look after themselves. I spoke to the chairman. That’s about the football. Be competitive. You have to probably try to gain the same level like everybody, you know, it’s very, very difficult and hard to attract in players, you know. ”

Here’s how fans reacted as Nolberto Solano speaks on being sacked by Blyth Spartans, who name ex-Prem and EFL keeper David Stockdale as interim manager…
@SnrPolitoHolt: There’s only one man for the job. Fenton. Wouldn’t be in this predicament if he was manager.
@lord_barrold: When are Clubs at this level going to realise that bringing in a ‘big name’ is nothing more than a short term PR stunt that rarely has a long term positive impact on the team’s results? 🙈
@CTmazza004: Ridiculous appointment in the 1st place, a complete waste of a summer in terms of recruitment. The next appointment is huge
@ConnorJobson18: Who’s next irfan? Asprilla or Ketsbaia?
@ntynespartans: That will free up a good chunk of the budget to hopefully get some experience in
@Yidcradle2grave: Fans don’t deserve this nonsense, they travel all over the country supporting Blyth, show them some respect.
@benshambabe: Disaster from the starts this
@Jofish_69: PR stunt gone wrong
@GregNUFC__: Didn’t take long
@ThatNUFC: In absolute disarray
@MattHurren1: Gutless shambles of a situation from the top down.
@jmagla: Feel for Nobby, he was sold a pup, up side (potentially) frees up more money for squad, but, we should also dump the DOF who is an absolute fraud. I agree, if at all possible get Fenton back ASAP.
@SnowdonAl2206: A miserable shocking and inept appointment and was always going to end like this. The club is run like a corner shop !!
@ljacks1118: Shame for nobby but this had disaster written all over it from the start
@daveyK1234: Was a crazy appointment really the guy clearly been sold down the river by the clown in charge. Don’t matter who comes in if the owner stays him and his sidekick need to be gone and pronto 🖕
@Brian912206542: Irfan and Howard are the ones to go , Howard brought these players in
@micky_quinn: Fucking disgrace of a club this now such a shame
@Cameronbro56581: Irfan next? Both Shite
@LumpItYeah: Get that fraud Howard out too. These are his signings. And then you get yourself gone too Irfan, you massive chancer.
@rutterbean: For fucks sake.
@Toonpedro: The owners are the problem, couldn’t run a p*ss up in a Brewery!
@TomBarton17: Said from day one the bloke was clueless, another PR stunt gone wrong. Hope the replacement is more suited to this level of football!
@ChrisAndLou1: The fact that he’s gone this soon managing a group signed up by a “recruitment committee” is a damning enditement of the fools in charge rather than Nobby, even though he was out of his depth from the start.
@Adamuddgren1: Aye fuck off you knobhead. 1 down 3 to go
@Rich42M: Regretfully accepting that we’re stuck with Irfan for the time being. Howard needs to be gone too, he couldn’t recruit pissheads in a Wetherspoons.
@cwhiteman92: Irfan, fuck off you clueless charlatan
@BigAppa48: Owner has absolutely killed your club. Absolute joke of a man.
