No shots on target for Blackburn and were left further frustrated by a 2-0 defeat to Norwich on Saturday afternoon.
Goals from Anis Slimane and debutant Mohamed Toure gave the home side their fourth win in five league games, up to 17th with 36 points, four points clear of danger.
Blackburn however sees them sit above the drop zone on goal difference, 21st after 31 games played, level on points with West Brom who sit 22nd.
The game continued to lack any big moments, then that changed come the 73rd minute, when Norwich broke the deadlock thanks to Anis Slimane after Oscar Schwartau’s shot from outside the area came back off the post.
Then on 79 minutes, Mohamed Toure tapped into the empty net from close range to make it four wins in five for the Canaries.
Ross Heaton (commentator for BBC Radio Lancashire): “Blackburn will have to take some risks now to stand even a chance at getting a draw.
“A penny for the thoughts of those Rovers away supporters who have made the long journey.”
Elliott Jackson said in separate tweets: “Far from a classic. Rovers have kept Norwich quiet but not offered much up themselves.
“Rovers have been too cautious with their changes. This game was there for the taking and now they’re chasing.
“What an absolute disaster. Handbrake on second half in a game that was perfectly winnable on the basis of the first 45.
“All over. So frustrating. A game of nothing won by the team that were braver. Two poor goals in five minutes the undoing for #Rovers. Four points between the two teams now.”
It certainly won’t be the biggest following this weekend, but I think the few that made the very long trip to Norwich from Blackburn for the early kick off today deserve huge credit.

Elliot Bennett (BBC Radio Norfolk commentator): “It was definitely not a 2-0 game, the second half was looking like the first before the first goal went in.
“There were a few mistakes in the passing from Norwich but that was to be expected.
“It was a tough watch at time but they got the three points which is the most important thing.
“The only concern will be how serious the injury to Makama will be.”
No need to mess about with a backline that was looking comfortable. Completely self-inflicted defeat & ended up looking desperate. Draw would have been fine. Need the new manager in and fast. Another rival handed points. #rovers pic.twitter.com/y2rZCJTvhS

Norwich boss Philippe Clement told BBC Radio Norfolk: “All credit for the hard work and organisation of Blackburn today, they did everything to stop us.
“But in the end, we were the team who were dominant today. Although the start of the game was, for me, not good enough, but we dominated the game and we deserve to win.
“We had the most chances. We almost didn’t concede any chances in this game, so that’s a real positive.”
On Papa Diallo and Jovon Makama’s injuries:
“Papa could not start the game, so that doesn’t look good, and also Jovon. That was a really unlucky one, stepping on somebody’s arm or hand in a duel and then twisting his leg. So let’s see the next couple of days and I can only hope and pray.”
Blackburn caretaker boss Damien Johnson told BBC Radio Lancashire: “Obviously I’m very disappointed with the result. Overall for 70 minutes there wasn’t a lot in it.
“I thought we were in the game and we had some opportunities in terms of our crosses, territory and momentum. We obviously knew Norwich would have some moments as well.
“I think we were punished for just for two moments, a poor header and then just a slip, which can happen, so overall disappointed.
“You can’t think they had many clear-cut chances and I don’t remember Balazs [Toth] making too many saves. So, of course, it’s frustrating, but in football, you’re playing against good sides and you can get punished as we were today.”

Here’s how fans reacted after no shots on target for Blackburn and further frustrated by the 2-0 defeat to Norwich…
@johnrobinson07: Cheers Rudy you knob. We have so many lazy and poor players in this squad that would struggle in league 1. How Rudy and Adam Owen’s are still in jobs after this disastrous recruitment and keeping Ismael so long is criminal.
@ReportRovers: This is exactly why we will be Relegated this season, points up for grabs again today but the non existent quality up top & sloppy defensive errors cost us yet again. No one’s learning & nothings changing. No hope. No belief. Not even Jose Mourinho could save this shower of shit.
@followBRFC: It doesn’t matter who they bring in. The players are shite and not arsed. We are going down. This is squarely on that useless turd Gestede and his fucking data. We’ve been fucked over by these rats.
@_Aaron_Holt_01: Leave Cantwell at Norwich… only one who can get the coach back is Cashin and Carter. Rest of them can walk
@nathrover1985: Not a single shot on target! Two mistakes cost us which is just a theme with us! Both the Norwich and hull games are there for the taking and we’ve given both teams the points ! Get what you deserve in football #rovers
@RoversXtra: Subs ruined the game for me, imo but Carter had to come off. We can’t keep risking him, especially if he’s put best defender. Get Rowett in and try and actually stay up now, please #BRFC | #Rovers
@KyleWicksAF: Cantwell as number 10 doesn’t work. Too slow. Lacks intensity. Hes great at winning fouls but all it does is kill any momentum we have and lets their team get back into position. Also are set pieces are rubbish anyway. For me we need to drop Cantwell play gudjohnson and ohashi up
@Tom_martin18: Genuinely, if the first thing the new gaffer does is not stripping cantwell of the captain armband i am already tuning out, we are in a dog fight and thats the person you have as the captain, absolute spineless coward, less said about the rest of them the better 🤢
@ChrisMartin_93: No shots on target in a relegation six-pointer and another defeat to a team around us. It doesn’t look good, does it?
@RoversNumber9: We did ok for 60 minutes without any threat on our goal or Norwich goal. Shame that Carter needs to be managed for minutes, but our goal scoring threat is soooo poor. #gestedeout failed transfer windows in last 2 seasons both summer and January #rovers
@whittys11: Whoever comes in at #Rovers needs to bring a full coaching staff with them we need a full on clear out yes keep Johnson for now to introduce everyone and this is why it takes so long to get someone in because they’ve to work with the dross coaching team we already have
@MFRFC55: the worry is this team isnt up for a relegation dog fight, weak all over the pitch offer zero threat up being the main worry. The best we can do is accept relegation now, cause these pathetic excuse of footballers ain’t gonna keep us up. This is all on rudys recruitment. the cunt
