National League South match saw fifty-eight minutes of injury time

One National League South match this afternoon saw a total of fifty-eight minutes of injury time, following a serious injury in-game.

Hungerford Town hosted the league encounter against Concord Rangers, however a worrying incident occurred in the first half of the game.

The only goal of the fixture came in the 18th minute, Ryan Seager had a chance from far out which bounced off the cross bar and hit Chris Haigh, which then bounced into the back of the net.

However mid-way through the second half, a bad challenge between Ryan Scott and Kyle Tooze left both players down needing treatment.

On the 68th minute, Concord tweeted on their Twitter account that Kyle Tooze was still down injured for ‘what seems to be quite a bad injury’ to the head. They added ‘We hope it isn’t as serious as it looks and wish him a speedy recovery.’

There was still a pause in play by the 77th minute after the challenge between Ryan Scott and Kyle Tooze. Medics were on the pitch. That was at 4:37pm.

By 5:19pm, an ambulance had managed to arrive and take him away safely, then the National League South fixture resumed again.

Concord added: “Kyle Tooze was awarded a second yellow for his challenge on Ryan Scott. Hungerford playing with 10 men.”

“We once again wish Kyle Tooze all the best and hope he can recover as quickly as possible.”

Hungerford Town managed to hold on to the win, giving them their third victory of the season and a 100% record, taking them to 2nd in the league table, level on points with leaders Dorking Wanderers.

Supporters of both clubs weren’t able to attend the fixture due to the coronavirus guidelines and rules issued by the government.

However they were able to see the game streamed at Hungerford pub named The Borough Arms. A good turnout came to watch the game, though fair to say they had to wait a fair bit for play to resume.

No doubt they watched on at the worrying scenes, but it also made for a drinks break before the bar closes at 10pm.

There is yet to be an update on the condition of the player, but we’ll include it to the article should it become known.

Fans gave their reaction after reading that the National League South match saw fifty-eight minutes of injury time, some not knowing the context of it all…
