Jeff Stelling makes up for leaving viewers unhappy with what he said on Soccer Saturday

Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling makes up for leaving viewers unhappy with what he said on Soccer Saturday a few weeks ago.

A sour taste was left after he turned his attention to the Championship clash Nottingham Forest and Bristol City, with one particular player catching his eye.

30 year old Forest forward Lyle Taylor was substituted onto the pitch for youngster Alex Mighten to try and help his side get some sort of points from this league fixture at the start of the month.

The Robins were 2-1 at the time of the striker coming onto the pitch. Jeff Stelling commented: “Daniel Bentley’s just having one of those afternoons can’t say the same about Lyle Taylor’s hair.”

The player’s hair is dyed pink, something he’s done for the last few seasons, to raise money for a Breast Cancer charity.

He then followed that up by apologising after finding out why his hair looked the way that it did, and one other pundit in the studio was left shaming him for the mistake.

Fast forward to Saturday the 17th of October and Jeff Stelling makes up for leaving viewers unhappy with what he said on Soccer Saturday a few weeks back.

He said before the show: “Now, two weeks ago I made myself look stupid, by criticising the hair of Lyle Taylor, nowadays at Nottingham Forest, it was PINK, and of course he was raising money for Breast Cancer, as he does every year in this particular month.

“So Lyle, this is my apology, I look like a Boris Johnson gone wrong don’t I?!

“This wig, every time you come on, I’ll wear this.”

On this occasion, he witty jokes got laughs in the studio, and he’s made amends for any offence caused the other week. Fair play Jeff!

Lyle Taylor made his way onto the pitch as a substitute during Saturday’s game against Blackburn Rovers, and that’s when Jeff whacked on the wig, as can be seen in the clip below…

At the time of Jeff’s joke gone wrong, Lyle Taylor raised a total of £775 + £181.25 Gift Aid towards Cancer Research. Since then, he’s now got a total of £1,133 + £244.50 Gift Aid. If you want to donate, you can HERE.

The donation page reads: “In my family, 3 of my grandparents have suffered with bowel and prostate cancer. Thankfully, they have survived it and are healthy and enjoying their lives to the fullest extent. My aunt’s mum and nan’s best friend both had breast cancer and unfortunately passed away. Raising money towards cancer research is something that is important to me, simply because I’ve seen people so close to me suffer and, in the worst cases, lose that fight. I am using the colour PINK, which is associated with Breast Cancer and the month of October, Cancer Awareness Month to raise awareness and money for Cancer Research UK. During the month of October, I will, as a professional footballer for Nottingham Forest, wear pink football boots and dye my hair pink, hoping that this will create a visual aid and a buzz that will encourage people to donate and, in future, run their own fundraisers.”

Fans reacted after seeing Jeff Stelling keep to his promise for leaving viewers unhappy with what he said on Soccer Saturday…
