“I shared my moment with him because I’ve spent my life fucking barking at him and shouting at him!” said McCarthy as per LancsLive.
“When he was at Charlton under-21s and then he went to Brighton where he’d come in and say: ‘That goal was offside!’ and I’d say: ‘Piss off!’.
“We’ve had arguments Nathan and I, but I’ve always liked him and respected him – his team at Charlton were different class, well coached.
“He used to run it there and then the same at Brighton, when he was with Chris Hughton. The job he did at Luton, I thought was fabulous and I’ve just sent him a few messages recently – because of the results he’s had.
“So that is the reason why – because I like him and respect him.
“I think he’s a really good coach; I was delighted when he got this job and I hope he keeps them up – for him.
“I have no affiliation to Southampton, or 90 other teams for that matter, while I’m at Blackpool.
“But, for him I hope he does it, because he proved his worth when he got the Stoke job.
“He had a go, came back to Luton, dragged them out of poverty almost, nearly got them promoted and then left a great squad for Rob Edwards now.
“So that is why I had my moment, not because the two of us are in the shit! But because of all those other reasons.”
Nathan Jones said after his side’s FA Cup win: “I don’t think there is less pressure. Obviously it’s a different pressure, because the Premier League is bread-and-butter, it’s the most important thing, but today there’s pressure because if we lost the furore would be carnage. It’s really important.
“And then it’s a different kind of pressure on us today because we are expected to dominate, to win comfortably. And that’s not football. That’s not FA Cup, and it’s not against Mick McCarthy’s team.”
McCarthy added: “I’ve sent him a few messages recently because of the results he’s had, and that’s the reason why, because I like him.
“I respect him, and I think he’s a really good coach. I was delighted when he got this job, and I hope he keeps them up. For him. I have no affiliation to Southampton or 91 other teams for that matter while I’m at Blackpool.
“But for him I hope he does it because he proved his worth. He got the Stoke job, then back to Luton, dragged them out of poverty almost and nearly got them promoted and left a great squad for Rob Edwards now.”

@DougieSpen: Don’t you just love a manager who doesn’t dress it up in any shape or form 🤣🤣
