Manager Paul Lambert calls it quits at Ipswich Town with the club set to make a quick appointment, leaving much of the fanbase thrilled.
The Tractorboys won their last two games under Lambert including a 2-1 victory against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday, leaving them 8th in the League One table, two points off the playoffs.
Lambert has left the club due to “significant differences of opinion” with owner Marcus Evans, yet for many weeks it seemed as if the owner was happy to keep him at Portman Road, after all, the supporters have wanted a new manager for years, holding many a protest.
Ipswich Town has today parted company with manager Paul Lambert by mutual consent.
The Club thanks Paul for his efforts while in charge at Portman Road, and wishes him well for the future.

CLUB STATEMENT:
Blues looking for new boss after mutual consent departure
Ipswich Town have parted company with manager Paul Lambert by mutual consent.
The former Scotland international has been in charge at the Club since October 2018.
Assistant manager, Stuart Taylor, has also left Portman Road.
“I would like to put on record my sincere thanks to Paul and Stuart for their services to Ipswich Town over the last two and a half years,” Town owner, Marcus Evans, told the Club website.
“I have enjoyed a healthy working relationship with Paul in our time together and he has brought a lot of positive aspects to the Club.
“It has, however, become clear after holding discussions over the last few days that there are significant differences of opinion as to the order of immediate priorities and we agreed it was best for us to part company. I would like to wish both Paul and Stuart the best in the future.”

According to The Athletic, the club are on the verge of being taken over by a group of American investors – led by Los Angeles-based businessman Brett Johnson – for £17.5m. Bristol City CEO Mark Ashton is a part of.
Lambert came in at Ipswich back in October 2018 but failed to prevent their relegation from the Championship that season.

They then finished in a below par 11th in the League One table last season, and have so far been unable to mount a promotion push in the 2020-21 season with expectations leaving fans protesting countless time for change.
The Athletic reports that owner Marcus Evans is ready to to sell the club to an American consortium and they want former Wigan manager Cook as their new boss.
The Liverpool born has previously guided Portsmouth to the League Two title in 2017, has been out of work since July.
Cook quit the Latics after they were relegated from the Championship when handed with a 12-point deduction for entering administration – having finished 13th in the standings after an impressive end to the campaign.
The ex-Chesterfield man has been linked with several jobs this season – including Sheffield Wednesday, Cardiff City, Bristol City and Salford City, but ended up getting none of them somehow.
Cook has previously expressed his desire to return to management in the Championship, now he’s set for League One in the hope of a late push for promotion.

@ITFC_Alex: He’s been unwell with long Covid and undoubtedly working in a very difficult situation, but I think everyone and his dog is relieved it’s all over. It’s been hard work and clearly unproductive for all concerned with ITFC
@NathanSpafford_: It’s amazing to think that just over a decade ago, Lambert was one of the most exciting British managers. That 7-1 win over Norwich with Colchester before guiding the Canaries to League One promotion the same season is a far cry from the manager today. Such a shame.
@CastCanary: You had a good run agent Lambert 👏
@paxcyclist: I think he could have done a lot better with the resources at his disposal – but to be fair to him, he also recognised the deep malaise at the club. Here’s hoping rumoured takeover starts to rectify this.
@hcopple88: After the endless amounts of draws and losses as soon as he gets two wins in a row you, that’s when you sack him 🤣
@reephambird: Stand down Agent Lambert. A job well done.
@63blueevans: Never nice when anyone loses their job but this really should have happened a year ago. Onwards and upwards #itfc
@OOCSwindonTown: Want John Sheridan? He’s won more games at Portman road this year then Lambert?
@apirie: One more to go… #EvansOut
@StandardLeeb: Looks like new owners are coming in and they want Paul Cook as manager (probably Dyer and Butcher as caretakers until it’s sorted), Lambert should have gone weeks ago. Hopefully this Paul will be better than the other ones who have been three of the worst managers in our history!
@WoodyWoodhouse8: Bloody great news
@stuarttthodson: Thanks for your efforts! A shame it didn’t work out, no need for the abusive comments now, he’s gone, it’s done! but now let’s get back to the championship!!!!
@lfev11: Holy fuckkkkk
@l_b_burrows: That must surely mean the USA deal is happening.
@Jack_ITFC7: What the fuck we had something going last couple games fuming
@hudbud10: One down, one to go #evansout
@KaneBennett5: Fucking get in there
@DennyBaldwin: So Paul “ I won’t defend and set up a time like Rafa Benitez” Lambert has been sacked again how he keeps getting jobs is beyond me he’s fucking useless
@Ady_147: Paul Jewell, Paul Hurst & Paul Lambert all failed!! 4th lucky with Paul Cook??? #canwehavesomeonemanageourclubnotcalledPaulnorMick
@A_Lehainy: I’m not crying, you are! What a day! #itfc
@LancsIron: Do wonder if the recent spate of managerial sackings have coincided with the news about fans and restrictions being lifted.
@JordyDavidBetts: Mission failed… we will get them next time! Thanks for all your hard work Agent Lambert 😂😂
@aIexbcfc: Mark Ashton is a really good CEO you should definitely appoint him. He would be sorely missed if he was to join ipswich x
@doug_frost: Probably was time he went to be fair. Brought nothing but success to Norwich but been shite ever since. One hit wonder #itfc #ncfc
@zach_ward1989: I’d argue a year too late. BUT…. if we get Cook, and new owners, the future all of a sudden feels so much brighter #ITFC
@JoeySadler_: Was tucked up in bed and now we’re on the tins. UPPA TOWEENNNN
@bcfckory: you know i’d be gutted if mark ashton went to ipswich. such a likeable character, communication is so good, hope you don’t get him @IpswichTown
@liamstokey: We hired this man when were still in the premier league. We absolutely deserve to be where we are
@DMCG1991: About time they sacked him. He’s been due the sack for at least 18 months.
@HarvMarksy: Paul Cook imminent. I’m so fucking jealous
