Liam Rosenior faces angry Chelsea fans and gets mocked by Everton after his side’s 3-0 defeat on Saturday evening.
Beto dinked the ball over Chelsea keeper Robert Sanchez for opener on the 33rd minute, before then making 2-0 with a shot going through Sanchez.
Iliman Ndiaye then sealed the win, boosting Everton’s European qualification hopes, while denting Chelsea’s Champions League hopes.
Chelsea lose four in a row in all competitions, they sit 6th with 48 points from 31 games played, 1 point behind 5th place Liverpool. Everton are 8th with 46 points from 31 games played.
Less than an hour after the final whistle, Everton’s social media posted in reference to previous comments made by Rosenior about Chelsea’s pre-match huddle.
It included a photo of Everton defender Jake O’Brien holding the match ball, with it captioned: “Respecting the ball,” along with a blue heart emoji.

Liam Rosenior, speaking to BBC Match of the Day On the result: “From our end when you give goals away to begin the game and you give good team confidence you end up with results like this. Credit to Everton in terms of the result and performance but from our standards that’s not good enough.
“We start the game edgy, and then we actually come into a very good period where are in control. We look like we’re going to create goal scoring opportunities, which we do, and then out of nowhere we go 1-0 down and give ourselves a mountain to climb. Pickford makes an unbelievable save at 1-1 and then the second goal is a mistake again, and then you are chasing the game, and end up conceding the third on a break. Overall it’s a really difficult evening.
On if Champions League loss played a part: “It does, but we wanted to lift ourselves up. It was a massive game this evening, and it’s been a really testing period for these lads over the course of the last 10 days. We have had a lot of travelling, a lot of kicks and setbacks. We have to dust ourselves off and make sure we comeback fighting.”
On noise at Chelsea: “I focus on the job, I don’t focus on the noise. I know the reality of where I am at, and where we are at as a club and what we can achieve, which is still some amazing things. We have played 10 games at this club in my time in the Premier League, we aren’t in as bad a place as the noise suggest.”

Rosenior speaking to Sky Sport on Everton: “Yeah goals give you energy, and at the moment we are gifting goals away. We gifted two poor goals. We started edgy, and then the first 10, 15 minutes a few cheap give aways and then we played our way into the game and it seems to be happening every week.
“What that does is the crowd gives energy to the opposition and then their confident goes up. In the end Everton deserved the victory and that is something we need to improve very very quickly.”
On Chelsea’s defensive mistakes: ”Yeah, 100 percent the accountability and the responsibility ends with me. We played in a different way, we dropped the team a little bit deeper today in a 4-4-2 shape. I thought we were comfortable in the game.
“The first goal we gave away, we were the most comfortable, and the difference again is in both boxes were that they were clinical. The third goal from Ndiaye was a fantastic finish. We had chances, especially in the first half but if you don’t take them you’re going to end up losing games of football.”
On Champions League qualification: “We are a point away from the Champions League. I’m learning about this club, there has been a lot of noise, negative noise, and rightly so about our performances last week. We have had 10 games in the league together as a group, and we have 17 points. I think we are fourth in my time. Forget the noise, we have to keep our calm and our composure. An international break has probably come at a good time for us to restart and go again for a really good run in.”
If emotion and fatigue has played a part: “Yes the lads want to do really really well. We are giving everything, I want to give everything to the club and we are a young group, we are emotional but it’s out to wanting to do really really well for the team and for the club. It’s been a really testing week, both physically and physiologically, and it’s one we haven’t done well enough in and we have to make sure we put that right in the running.”
On goalkeeper Robert Sanchez’s performance: “I think it’s so difficult after the game to speak about an individual performance. Rob is a top goalkeeper and goalkeepers have days like this. Pickford makes a world class save to keep it 1-0.
“For me it’s not a time for talking, it’s the time for me and my staff to analyse. The players will go away with the respective countries and when we come t we will have a few clear weeks for some time to work with the players for the first time.”
On the mood of the players: “Head down. It’s not a lack of effort. I don’t see anyone throwing the towel in. The lads are trying but it’s not good enough of where we want to be.”
On elbow incident late in the game with James Tarkowski and Wesley Fofana: “I generally haven’t seen anything back. I have just spoken to the players and the staff. I can’t comment on it, I haevn’t seen it.
Everton boss David Moyes, speaking to BBC Match of the Day on what he was impressed with from his team: “I think the overall performance right from the first minute to the last. Chelsea are a quality team, the players they’ve got are excellent so it was always going to be difficult but we done it today.”
On Beto scoring twice: “It’s difficult to explain sometimes as a manager you come across so many good people who work really hard but this boy is incredibly humble, does his work every day, wants more, can’t get enough of it. Sometimes the harder you work the more luck you get as well. Whether it was luck today or not he certainly took his goals great.”
On James Garner’s performance and assist for the first goal: “I might be biased but, for me, he was the best player on the pitch and he’s up against an awful lot of top players from other top countries, Argentina, some England internationals on the pitch. I thought he shone out and worked really, really hard and he’s getting his rewards for the work he’s putting in.”
On whether it was the best day at the new stadium: “Absolutely the best. Even the arrival, as we know some things can play a part, the late kick-off, maybe had a couple of beers, but the crowd was definitely with it. From minute one I think we gave them something to believe in.
The crowd were fantastic tonight. It was more reminiscent of Goodison then any game we’ve had here.”
On European ambitions: “It’s seven games to go to see if we can cling on to a position in Europe if we can. I’d say if we can get a position in top 10 we’d see it as a really good season, not near the bottom of the table fighting relegation. But I think we’re here now I don’t want to step away because you don’t get many chances, so I think every game we have to see if we can get points and see if we can give ourselves a chance of getting in one of the European competitions.”
Moyes, speaking to Sky Sports about how similar today was to previous years at Goodison Park: “It was like the old days, wasn’t it? We used to get some great victories and the crowd was always behind us at Goodison. But I’d have to say today was probably the best we’ve had inside the stadium, but maybe the best the supporters have seen as well as far as team performances. I thought the team played well from the start right through, a really good job and deserved the victory.”
On being in the mix for a top 5 finish: “I think you’re getting carried away a little bit. They [league table] don’t lie and they certainly don’t lie at this time of the year. If you gave us a European spot I would be shaking your hand for whatever that was and whatever position that might be. It’d be a big step from where the club’s been in certainly in the last few years. For the supporters here it would be great to get them back to Europe if that was possible.”
Everton striker Beto, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “Today was really good. Really good game. Really good win. It was a must win game, we did it with a clean sheet and we are all happy to get the three points.”
On scoring twice: “For me, it was really good. I was waiting for this moment. I was working hard to get these chances and to finish the chances and I did it. I helped the team. I’m just amazed.”
On his teammates reaction to his goals: “It was just amazing. The reaction you can see when I arrived in the changing room, they were all screaming and shouting, so it’s really good.”
On how much this result helps their European ambitions: “As I said, it was a must win game. The team needed to win because of this. He [David Moyes] has this objective. We have this objective. We just have to go game by game and win by win.”
Chelsea defender Jarrol Hato, speaking to MOTD:
On the result: I’m very disappointed of course. We tried but today was not enough.
“I don’t know what it is, but, how painful it is we have to take this one, and look forward. We have an international break everyone has time to think about the next game. We are still in the FA Cup, and also there’s the top four so we have to look forward.”
On the mood of the dressing room: “Quiet. Of course, everybody is disappointed but we have to look forward. It’s painful this one, but we have to look forward.”
On if Liam Rosenior’s has said anything to the team: “Not really much, because he’s disappointed as well. Actually he said, what I said, we have to go forward even with how painful this is.”
On the fans: “I don’t have to say anything about the fans, they were great today, but it’s important to stay together as a team, as players and the whole club.”
