Leyton Orient name an interim manager with the top six favourites to potentially get the job permanently revealed by the bookies.
The O’s have placed Matt Harrold in caretaker charge ahead of this weekend’s clash with Carlisle United who have newly appointed Paul Simpson.
Orient sit 18th in League Two, five points above Carlisle, following a rotten run which has brought just two points in ten games, and it hopefully makes for a entertaining contest with both managers wanting to come away with all three points.
Leyton Orient coach Matt Harrold is set to take temporary charge of first-team affairs.
🗣 “Both Matt and Brian have a close connection to the club, and I encourage you all to be loud and proud this Saturday and really get behind the team.”#LOFC #OnlyOneOrient

The Club can confirm that Matt Harrold will take temporary charge of first-team affairs following the departure of manager Kenny Jackett.
A key part of the National League promotion season Harrold, who played 92 times for the O’s, joined the O’s coaching set up following his retirement from playing in 2020.
Harrold, who took charge of a Crawley Town game as Caretaker Manager in 2016/17, will be assisted by Academy Manager Brian Saah.
“With a decision on a change of manager made, Matt and Brian will take temporary charge of first team affairs whilst the process begins for Kenny Jackett’s replacement,” said Nigel Travis, Chairman.
“Both Matt and Brian have a close connection to the club, and I encourage you all to be loud and proud this Saturday at the Breyer Group Stadium, and really get behind the team.”
The O’s now face a massive game this Saturday, as Carlisle United visit East London.
A win for the O’s would help put daylight between themselves and the Cumbrians, who have now slipped into the relegation zone.
Three points is the target for the O’s, looking to start a new run of form – and we need you there in your numbers supporting the team.

@jackLOFC: MATTY HAROLDS RED AND WHITE ARMY
@PaulStaines86: Good luck Matt. Gonna need to get the players to change their mindset in just 3 days. Let’s hope we can start to string a couple of results to pull us away from the deep depths of relegation
@barrype75116238: Not sure how tactically aware Matt Harold is but I think the players will support hi and play for him Justin wasn’t tactically great but he sure knew how to motivate a dressing room if Harold can do that we get through
@EuanCarter23: 🙄😨 fucking brilliant 🤩
@trickyOs: He should’ve been gone after mcanuff went. Wtf is this.
@Orientsphincter: Good luck chaps. Let’s hope the different voice/ buzz round the place has the desired effect
@Orientsphincter: After listening to Ling saying he got involved under Embleton and Fletcher ( even though he denied it at the time) the other day probably best to add his name in as well for transparency. I still remember when he said he never went to the Training Ground. Got interviewed at the Training ground and said with all seriousness and a bit of typical arrogance “ You’ll never find a better Coach than Ross Embleton” 😂😂
@RyanPnut: Surely if sacking a manager then a plan should be in place already. Writing been on the walk for weeks. I’m concerned with the leadership at the club. All coming out and contradicting each other all the time. Give Porter and the new CEO a chance. Ling & Nigel showing themselves up. No forward thinking at the club. We are just reacting to situation and then it’s too late. Got to be proactive and ahead of the game. Long way from “sustainability” at this stage. Hopefully Kent’s money won’t run out.
@gold931: Good luck to Matt on Saturday will get my 100% support, but a new manager is required to keep this team in the league, and make sure attendances don’t drop further down
@DanAuton2590: Matt and Brian get my full backing, the people who have put them in this position most certainly do not #lofc
@TheLeechy: Mmm well if the due process takes as long as in the past, we will be relegated. Interim should be ten days. We need a motivator. Really disappointed with all of this
@oneadamconway: “Starting the process…”? We haven’t started already?
@TXTREV: It’s going to be tough to motivate these players but I fully support Matt and Brian just keep the director of failure away from them and let these guys get on with the job
@Itheeglenn: Matt Harold is one of the few remaining people from the Justin era, so maybe we can get the spirit back in the dressing room for the next few games which may be just what is needed right now!!!
@williameveritt: Good luck Matt. As for Kenny. Most of us thought it was a great appointment at the time and this shows how hard it is to find the right guy. Our owners are great guys, we are lucky to have them. There is not a list of people prepared to lose millions to prop up our team
@gasheadforlife: As a rovers fan I hope things improve for you great fans great club, hope to see a reaction for your fans good club is leyton orient wish matt Harold all the best all the best for the rest of the season
@LofcTeresa: 100% behind you Matt. Important match on Saturday and could be the turning point if we can a win.
@GaryTalbot7: Good luck Matt, you were a wholehearted player at every club, lift those boys to 3 points against the Cumbrians 👍
@jameswhyte81: Maybe a fresh younger man with a modern approach that will direct the team by giving instructions beyond…”you’ve got to run more” might be a good fit. Southend are doing well under a younger fresh team. No reason Matt can’t do the same! Good luck! 👊👊
@LOFC_Dan: I remember speaking to Matt around 3/4 years ago, spoke about going into property and mentioned getting his coaching badges, never did I think it would come to this!
@RobertStoney: Good Luck to them both, as players they never let us down. New managers/coaches IMO never solve all the problems straight away, but I will be intrigued to see if our players work harder & don’t throw the towel in if they fall behind like they have done the last 6/7 weeks. #lofc
@sonnyp32: Best day of my life 😍 What a man
@PaulRavens39: Well, this is step one of putting them in permanent charge. I’m worried at how vague the comment is about looking for a new manager. I would like to have heard something that suggests they’re looking to make an appointment ASAP #lofc
