Leicester celebrate promotion mocking Leeds as fans sing chant about Coventry outside stadium

Leicester City celebrate promotion by mocking Leeds as fans sing a taunting chant about Coventry City outside the King Power Stadium.

Leeds were on the end of some brutal trolling from the Foxes after losing 4-0 away at QPR on Friday night, with the result meaning Leicester secured promotion back to the Premier League.

Not only was it a significant blow to Leeds’ own promotion aspirations, Leicester rubbed salt in the wounds on Twitter, by tweeting the lyrics of the Kaiser Chiefs song ‘I Predict A Riot’, which was played when Leeds won 3-1 against Leicester in February having initially gone a goal down.

After the final whistle, Leicester fans made their way to the King Power Stadium to celebrate, with videos showing chants about Coventry ‘staying down’ and ‘crying at Wembley’.

The 4-0 defeat dents Leeds’ automatic promotion hopes as third-placed Ipswich Town are a point behind them with two games in hand.

Leeds’ Daniel Farke: “First of all, congratulations to QPR. It’s a well-deserved win for them and we have to accept the loss. Decisive for the game were the first 15 minutes. We were poor in this period, didn’t win any duels. We speak a lot about principles, tactical approach but today the basics were not good. Moving enough and being compact as a team and winning duels. Then we were already 2-0 back.

“After that we started to play the game. Tried to put lots of pressure on their men. Then they scored two more out of set pieces. Then we had to make sure we don’t concede any more. It’s an off day today.

“The last two games we’ve conceded too many goals, today we’ve conceded too many goals. There are several reasons not excuses – quick turnarounds, key players missing, with a really young side they were perhaps a bit nervous or over motivated. All together they played a role.

“We know in terms of automatic promotion we are not in the best position now but this team has no reason to dwell on this really poor game today. With 90 points after 45 games, normally you win the league with this. It’s not the right moment to feel too sorry for yourself. We have to keep going now.

“Since game day one we were in the chasing position and nothing has changed. It was remarkable we closed the gaps to the top teams. Let’s see.”

He refuses to concede defeat, saying: “The race is not over.

“Congratulations definitely to Leicester [City], they are promoted and also well deserved, but in comparison to Ipswich, nothing is over.

“If they win the next two games, then I’m the first one who goes out and says, ‘Congratulations, well done, you deserve it.’

“But if they don’t win the next two games, we have a lot to play for on the last gameday and this is what we will definitely do.

QPR’s Marti Cifuentes: “Best night of my time here so far? Definitely. It’s been a fantastic evening. We worked really hard to get this kind of performance and result. All the players and fans have been amazing. All the club. It was a difficult task but we managed to get the great escape.

“We have been through difficult moments and the guys showed togetherness. It has been teamwork.

“The players deserve this achievement. Some of the performances we could have got better points. But last game at home, against a fantastic football team like Leeds, that [deserves] a lot of credit.

“I came here because I was convinced about the potential. Now it’s about enjoying tonight.”

Leicester manager Enzo Maresca described Leicester City’s promotion to the Premier League as a ‘fantastic moment’ for everyone associated with the Club, but insists there is work to do as the Foxes chase the Championship title.

“I feel so proud to see the hard work of everybody associated with Leicester City throughout the entire season rewarded with our promotion to the Premier League,” Maresca said. “This achievement is one for us all to share and one that I know means so much to the owners, to the players and to our supporters.

“What we have accomplished was not easy. There are many good teams in a very competitive league, but the work we’ve done together with our players to turn our idea of how to play into a reality has helped us overcome all these challenges. This is a fantastic moment for the Football Club and one we should celebrate, but we still have work to do. We’re determined to end this season in first place and lift that trophy in front of our supporters at King Power Stadium on the final day.

“My thanks to Khun Top and his family, as well as our players, my staff and our supporters,” he added. “The commitment to our vision and our goals from everyone has been so important in building the spirit and mentality that have brought us this success.

“We’ve had to show determination and character throughout the season, but those things have also given us some unforgettable memories, with, I hope, more celebrations to come.

“All teams can go through challenges in the Championship, so we have needed our supporters to lift us at our toughest times, and as well as being proud of their team, they can take pride in the role they have played in this journey too.

“For the players, they have been amazing. They deserve all the recognition that comes with an achievement like this. I know they are all determined to win our final two games, finish in first place and share the celebrations with our supporters at our final home game.”

@Jimi_Dyer: It’s funny because before this season these lot were convinced they didn’t care about us at all. Think they’ve safely proven that idea wrong this season 👍

@niallc176: Is there a more embarrassing club? Cheated your way through the division, punished the following season and chant about a team with an 18th of your annual budget. Will come to haunt them and rightly so thank fuck #PUSB

@ryanohare07: well done on your £200m team getting promoted and that but i dont want to see anymore “we dont care about cov” posts on here
