Lee Tomlin’s ‘embarrassing’ red card during the League Two opener Bradford City v Doncaster Rovers has been slammed by fans on Saturday.
We’re not even in August yet but Lee Tomlin received what has been described as one of the most embarrassing red cards we’ll see all season.
The two sides went head-to-head on the opening weekend of the 2022-23 League Two campaign.
Tomlin, making his competitive debut for Donny after leaving Walsall at the end of the 2021/22 season, was handed two yellow cards in quick succession from referee Bobby Madden.

The 33-year-old received the first yellow card after stopping Bradford from taking a free-kick during first-half stoppage-time.
He then chose to kick the ball away for second time before theatrically falling to the ground when Bradford’s James Walker, gave him the slightest push in the back and appeared to tread on his foot.
Walker was given a yellow card, while Tomlin received his marching orders to the amusement of home fans.

@stevel1955: That’s the most pathetic sending off I’ve ever witnessed. shame on you Lee Tomlin, you’ve left your team in the shit.
On the 7th minute with Liam Ravenhill – son of former Doncaster and Bradford midfielder Ricky – caught Emmanuel Osadebe with a very heavy tackle, stopping the game for eight minutes with the stretcher and medics brought on.
Some teammates, including Romoney Crichlow, were distressed with the loanee sitting on his own for a minute to compose himself, Osadebe was taken off with the blue lights of an ambulance taking him off to hospital with an allegedly a serious leg injury.
Later on in the game, Ravenhill had been controversially booked and not handed a red card from referee Robert Madden, before being subbed and booed off by fans.
Jonathan Mitchell kept out Lee Angol’s cross-shot while Matty Platt got in the way of a shot from George Miller which looked set to go in.
Harry Lewis prevented Joseph Olowu from putting Donny ahead from Adam Clayton’s corner before Smallwood’s free-kick saw his effort hit the post.
