After finding out that Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth has been approached by Sunderland, fans took to give their reaction on whether they thought he would be the right appointment or not…
Gareth Ainsworth is currently in a promotion place with a 4 times smaller budget, and without a striker that cost £4m, but OK then lad.#SAFC fans are so unknowledgeable it’s unbelievable. https://t.co/JBR4EChYw6

Personally not overly inspired by the prospect of Ainsworth coming in, looks like he can do a job on a really really tight budget……which would indicate that there will be no takeover in the foreseeable future #safc

I would take Ainsworth like, small part of me doubted him as I didn’t want a repeat of Grayson (someone who can do bits in a lower league but not at our current standard) but as Wycombe are currently second there’s nee doubt he could get us up this season too #SAFC

Love how Mark Robins binned off a smaller club to stay at cov #pusb

He deserves a crack at a big job.. Wycombe would miss him but he would be leaving the club in great shape…

@lawts26: Gonna be Ainsworth ain’t it #Safc ??
@marrs_jordan: Sunderland fans need to realise we r a league 1 club, so a league 1 manager is what we need at present. All for Ainsworth as he has done a cracking job with Wycombe. Different pressure managing us but he knows the league well, Ross didn’t and that cost him. #safc
@Kirsten_Hesketh: Please don’t go, Gareth! @wwfcofficial #chairboys
@rbjudge: I do like that quite a lot of Sunderland fans genuinely seem to think that Roy Keane would be a better appointment than Gareth Ainsworth
@b3nxf: Our fans moaning about Gareth Ainsworth really cements how little the majority know about football and what it takes to get out of this league. We’ll finish in the top 2 if we get him 100%. #safc
@middsey89: Can’t believe we’ve reached a point where people are trying to convince themselves Gareth Ainsworth is an exciting appointment ?♂️
@MtopdeckMct2218: All I’m saying is take a long hard look at what happened to Nathan Jones at Stoke. Bet he wishes he’d stayed to finish what he’d started!
