Latest team to win the FA Trophy Final confirmed

Following Chertsey Town’s FA Vase win over Cray Valley PM earlier in the lunchtime kick off, we have now found out who has won this year’s FA Trophy Final.

Orient was hoping to become the first team since Martin O’Neill’s Wycombe in 1993 to win the National League (previously known as the Conference) and the FA Trophy in the same season.

Fylde had their captain injured on the 12th minute, Neill Byrne was left flat out following a head clash with Josh Coulson.

Byrne walked off and couldn’t return to the playing surface.. BT Sport cameras in the Fylde dressing room captured his frustration.

However AFC Fylde had the better of the first half and went to to cause a surprise by beating the favourites and National League Leyton Orient 1-0 thanks to the division’s top goalscorer and player of the year Danny Rowe who hit an exceptional free kick from 25 yards.

Orient were having incredible bad luck in the game having already hit the woodwork three times within the second half. Jordan Maguire-Drew on the 50th minute, Marvin Ekpiteta on the 57th and Joe Widdowson in the 70th.

The lively encounter continued with Orient still trying to find an equaliser however it could be not and the O’s failed to do the double.

The attendance for Non League Finals Day was a cracking turnout of 42,962.

Following the final whistle, fans took to both club’s social media to give their reaction – find out what they had to say on the next page.
