Journeyman footballer secures FOURTH spell at 8th tier club making it the 52nd move of his career

Journeyman footballer Jefferson Louis secures a FOURTH spell at 8th tier club Thame United, making it the 52nd move of his career.

It feels like we’re starting to lose count by this point, with the 44 year old still going strong, but for how much longer is the questions not just fans are asking, but Jefferson Louis himself.

The experienced footballer started his career back in 1996, and still feels as though he has one more season left in him.

In a football career that has spanned 28 years, Louis has played for an astonishing 43 clubs, (we think?!) as well as the national team of Dominica.

He was named on the bench for Thame’s league game away at away game at AFC Dunstable on the 9th of January 2024, but the game was abandoned due to a frozen pitch. His new club currently sit 18th in the Southern League Central Division with 15 points from 19 games played. They are one place above Kempston Rovers who are bottom, with 9 points from 16 games played.

In 2016, Sky Sports Soccer Saturday had a special feature on then Oxford City player Jefferson Louis, and it’s worth a watch…

He told The Telegraph back in 2014: “It’s like I’m cursed. “When I signed for Wrexham, (Manager) Dean Saunders said: ‘I wish I had you when you was young. You’d be a Premiership player now.’ “For them to say this makes me think, wow. Something went wrong for me, innit?” Louis considers himself a hard-working player, who gives his all. He believes if you show him the love, you’ll get the best out of him. However, he admitted that his journeyman tag has made it difficult for managers to trust him when it comes to giving him a fair crack. He said: “People say he must be a rebel, Jefferson must have been rude. “And it’s tarnished me. Some managers think I must be a bad apple.”

Twitter users reacted as the journeyman footballer secures a FOURTH spell at the 8th tier club making it the 52nd move of his career…

@nonlgupdates: Jefferson Louis onto his 1000th club. (Though I believe he’s played for Thame before). Sadly game abandoned due to a frozen pitch at half time. @BrentwoodSunLge: I saw J Louis play for Thame at Woodbridge in the FA Vase QF of 1999 – been quite a journey since then! @oufc_adam: Hold on, we might need him Saturday #OUFC @banhambtfc: How many clubs is that now @JHarriott84: Like a fine wine 🍷⚽️ @daleoufc89: What a story
