SHORTER HIGHLIGHTS:

Port Vale boss Jon Brady said after the game: “”We got outrun, outfought, outplayed.

“The way we tried to set up, I’ve got no consistency in the front line at the moment with what we’ve got.

“We’ve been really good defensively, but today we weren’t. We’ve been, in my opinion, quite toothless up front.

“It’s been inconsistent [the attack], and I tried to put Gaz [Andre Gray] up there and set the press right and work hard.

“In the end, first-half, you don’t want to run harder than the opposition, you don’t want to trap their full-backs in with our wide players.

“You don’t want to break down the line and run beyond them and work hard enough.

“Ultimately, we haven’t got the quality to compete against these teams.

“They show week-in week-out, you’ve got to set up in a deep block most of the time to then try and break on teams and try to get them to play a bit more.

“Obviously, we don’t have the quality.”

Speaking after the game, Wycombe boss Michael Duff said: “I think we’ve been better in recent weeks. We got the result, thats the most important thing.

“I thought we started the game really really well, went 1-0 up and sort of came off script a little bit.

“We did what they wanted to do, rather than what we wanted to do.

“Ultimately, it’s difficult, they’ve got nothing to lose, so they keep changing the shape and they change the personnel.

“I thought we were well deserving of the win, pleased with the clean sheet. Obviously, Will [Norris] made a mistake last week, Taylor Allen made a mistake last week and I thought the response was really good.

“I think it’s really important that we’re all together now. Supporters, players, board, and everyone pushing in the same direction is important.”

Twitter users reacted as Jon Brady gives brutally honest interview after Port Vale’s 4-0 defeat to Wycombe…

@pvfc_sam: Feel bad for Brady having to work with these sack of shit players. May cannot come soon enough 🙏🏻

@jonashton98: Wouldn’t bother putting any of them on against Chelsea. Completely embarrassing, no pride in the club they play for, no pride in themselves and definitely no pride in the supporters. I think some of the academy lads should be given a chance because they certainly don deserve it.

@rorybradders: If the players played with half the passion and respect for the club that Brady showed in that interview we wouldn’t be in the state we’re in. Fair plays to Brady I’m looking forward to his rebuild for league 2 next season as for this one time to blood in some of the youth

@tomclarke1: Play the youth team, fuck the lot of them.

@SenseInACesspit: He never takes responsibility for anything. We are starting to see he doesn’t even trust the players he’s brought in himself.

@kieranb81: Best part of this interview when asked about players proving they should be here next season JB almost ready to explode before quickly moving to the next question.

@Not_My_BBC: John should walk now if he’s not given permission to kick the lot of them out of our club at the end of the season.

@SirSebastian20: No point playing them then, just give the academy players a run out! 🤷‍♂️

@markmcnulty_99: Something is deeply troubling with how the club is being run ATM to produce a performance like that, one week ahead of an FA Cup 1/4 final. The defence were like statues, no fight, no togetherness. The culture is all wrong!

@darcy3217: Clearly there are very few who will be here next season. What he said was good, what he really wanted to say was even better and obvious

@jclewlow24: He keeps picking them, says we need more goals then picks no striker’s

@RichGoodwin1980: Everyone employed by the club should be ashamed and embarrassed by that performance today

@BenjaminGrocott: Some players don’t run hard enough. Just name them Jon, we know it’s Walters, Campbell, archer, Humphries, headley. That’s just to make a few of them too

@George_pvfc: He knows what he wants and it’s the majority of the squad gone. You can see a number of times in the interview where he bites his tongue and holds back. He will get this right next season with his own squad with players that want to battle and fight for the shirt. #pvfc

@PicardyBreezer: Reminds me of DC. He can’t wait to clear the decks and it shows. We lack quality up front & we know that. But, back & middle of the park, this lot pick & choose when they want to bust a gut & when they can’t be arsed. Watch them put in a blinder next week. Just watch. #pvfc

@Groot24518224: Every week he has said we need more fight? Where is it? Shower of shit

@BenWill76952707: Thats my fucking manager. If you dont back him you are stupid. #pvfc

@MichaelMinor360: I love the honesty it’s very refreshing 👍.

@BenWill76952707:
That second half sums up our season:
– Miss a golden chance clean through
– Hit the post from a golden chance
– Concede a jammy corner goal
– Miss a golden chance from a jammy corner
– Concede a golden chance clean through
– Concede a deflection
Good times #pvfc

@DavidBeardmore5: I love the managers honesty, we’ve not got quality, I’m absolutely behind Brady he tells it how it is we are down but roll on next season

@smilingmum1: Nope, some of these can play well enough for this division- look at Bolton, ( not to mention the cup games) we played well at the start just not scoring ( won’t spend decent money on a decent striker) Something just isn’t right at the Vale right now.
