Joleon Lescott can’t help but smirk at a chant from England fans mocking broadcaster Channel 4 after the North Macedonia game.
Presenter Jules Breach along with pundits Joe Cole and Joleon Lescott had been talking post-match on the 1-1 draw, but ended up trying to ignore the song coming their way.
Over 2,300 England fans were in the away end, and after such a poor game with those watching on left bored, they had to make their own entertainment up.
A chant of “Channel 4 is f**king sh*t” emerged, heard live on air as the pundits gave analysis of the Euro 2024 qualifier.

The clip has gone on to get over 7,000 likes and nearly a million views on Twitter, within the first 12 hours of being uploaded.
As mentioned, the game itself saw England secure a 1-1 draw in North Macedonia to seal a spot in Pot 1 of next month’s Euro 2024 draw.
England went behind through Enis Bardhi’s rebounded penalty after a controversial Rico Lewis foul, then Harry Kane forced an Jani Atanasov own goal from a Phil Foden corner just 40 seconds after coming off the bench.
Player ratings (as per Sky Sports)

Subs: Kane (7), Rashford (n/a), Phillips (n/a), Palmer (n/a)
Player of the match: Declan Rice
England forward Harry Kane, speaking to Channel 4, said: “Difficult game, we knew it would be and it was tough against a decent side playing on a pitch that’s difficult to play our style of football.
“We went 1-0 behind against the run of play with a soft penalty. It was good to get on the pitch, I’m always trying to help the team whether it is 90 minutes or 10 minutes. It was important for us to get a goal back and a shame we couldn’t get a second.
“I think it was an own goal, pretty sure. If anyone was going to get a second it was us.
“Against Malta we were sloppy on the ball, today we got a bit of a sucker-punch with the counter-attack and a soft penalty. We were playing against a team that people expected us to beat five or six nil, but they did a job on Italy in the World Cup qualifiers to knock them out.
“We can be really proud of how the qualifying campaign has gone.”
On debutant Rico Lewis: “I thought he was really good with and without the ball. A shame for the penalty but he can be proud, I thought he was fantastic. He just needs to keep working hard and I’m sure he will be back with us.”
England’s Rico Lewis on Channel 4: “Obviously, overall I’m very happy. Unfortunate with the result and the decision that went against me. It’s a lovely birthday present, to do it with these people around me, it couldn’t have been better.”
“Performance was good. Mentality was excellent.” ✅

England manager Gareth Southgate, speaking on Channel 4: “The really big results were in March, winning in Italy and the result against Ukraine. It meant coming here tonight was a different test, given we’ve qualified and everything was achieved.
“The mentality of the players was excellent, the quality with the ball was good on a very difficult pitch and a lot of positive performances.”
On debutant left-back Rico Lewis: “He was excellent, his composure with the ball, the fact that he did respond to that set-back [the penalty], which was really, really harsh. He is a super footballer, he was excellent I thought and we’re really pleased with him.”
On centre-half Marc Guehi: “He has been excellent in every game and showed great composure and his defending has been good, taking what I’ve seen from him at his club to international football and that’s not straightforward. He really looks a good player.
Southgate adds: “The next exciting bit is the draw at the beginning of December and we will see what the path looks like and there are a lot of players to keep a track on.
“Trent [Alexander-Arnold] again did an excellent job in midfield, Rico [Lewis], Cole Palmer, there’s plenty for me to think about.”
Here’s how fans reacted as Joleon Lescott can’t help but smirk at England fans’ chant mocking Channel 4…
@paulp_123: Lescott standing next to the Frank Spencer wannabe. Dion Dublin and Joe Cole are awful. These fans are bang on 😂
@banjholmes1990: They’re not wrong. Listening to Dion Dublin is torture
@ChrisLCFC1884: Can’t argue with them, coverage has less educational value than a Robbie Savage interview
@kingofsparks: At least Sam Matterface isn’t on commentary.
@AlanFRob42: & that’s without them having to be subjected to Dion boring Dublin!!
@Lucas_Duston7: Dion Dublin was terrible haha
@kanewallwork: Best part of the international break that
@GaryMarriott73: They’ve got it spot on to be fair.
@JamesPearson25: Please no more Dublin, dire
@Streeter60: Dublin should stick to Homes under the hammer, 1st time I’ve watched a England game with the volume off
@RobertClement23: Love this 😆🤦🏻♂️👏🏼😂👊🏼👏🏼
@michael81040329: They aren’t wrong
@ebroglio8: If they got rid of Dion Dublin from commentary the quality would be improved.
@Topgolfertiger: Highlight of the evening 🤣🤣🤣
@JCLaLiga: Facts. The best Joe Cole could do was ask Southgate what he was doing for Christmas in the post-match interview.
@chris_powley: They’re not wrong… shocking
@leeparker342: They’re not wrong, dion Dublin is an embarrassment, he didn’t even spot grealish goal was possibly offside.
@Sh3ppy86: Booooing Southgate now!! lol
@Forever_JP92: I mean they’re not wrong 😂
@johnoconnor10: The performance was as shite as the coverage Dion Dublin is shocking as a co commentator the whole programme was 💩💩💩💩
@IanPattersonMU: And that’s without them having to put up with Dion Dublin’s commentary
@kienewey: Football fans are underrated 😂
@TheArsenalNote: Dion Dublin is not a very good commentator of football. @Channel4. He is very limited in his commentary and also very bias. But its not for me to take food from a man’s mouth. #England
@sheppiiiii: This was the best part of being in that stadium. The footy was shite.
@graeme74dj: This did make me laugh.
@KatieCheshire5: Gotta love some good old British humour 😂
