After finding out Bury’s fate, but also listened to what the fans had to say when talking with Sky Sports on the club’s future, social media users took to give their reaction…
This is a catastrophe for football but for us fans it’s more than just our Bury FC. We will bounce back stronger and will always be remembered as BURY FC despite if we go into liquidation

WOW just WOW, my former club, with such rich history, magnificent fans & people who work at the club must be truly bewildered & heartbroken at the demise of their wonderful club,Bury Football Club. Use your collective spirit and create a Phoenix club, hope never dies…

May Bury reform as a Phoenix club like the great Chester FC did #OurCityOurSeals

People who haven't grown up with an never been truly connected to a club, people bitter about there own lives, people who @ players, people who embarrass the good names of the clubs they claim to speak for most weeks. #lufc #buryfc

Heartbreaking. Time to adopt the German model of minimum 51% fan ownership

@the_boobel: I’ve no affiliation with this club or team, but as football fan, this is terrible. EFL firstly, shame on you. Everyone mocking this situation, shame on you. This is people’s jobs. Livelihoods. People will lose a lot because of this. This is a dark day for English football…
@janelonsdale21: Thinking of #Buryfc fans today. You have the compassion, commitment and desire. Work together, work hard and fight for what you believe in. When told “no” try a different way. Let this be the beginning of the next chapter … not the end. @forever_bury @SaveBuryFC_
@lyndonashworth: Absolutely gutted for the Bury fans. I’m petrified that we will be next, I can’t imagine not having my #BWFC I just hope that Steve Dale gets what he truly deserves along with Stewart Day and Ken Anderson. This is a dark day in football and the @EFL have blood on their hands.
@thaktonhemlock: As Sligo Rovers fans struggle to keep the club going year after year you have to feel for the poor Bury fans. What the hell do you do next?
@NiceGuyKenny: Why don’t Bury start a new club called AFC, move into a non league ground, and fuck the existing club out of it to fend for itself like Wimbledon did?
@bw_swfc: Sad about bury tbh. When I think back to when it could have been us all them years ago I don’t know what I’d do with myself. Hopefully they do a Wimbledon get themselves a fan run club set up and take the piss in non league
@ForeverAYellow: A scary time for English football. EFL’s fit & proper test so much of a shambles that any EFL club could be next to potentially go through what Bury had to. Worrying. Something seriously needs to change to prevent this from happening again.
