Hereford have this evening confirmed the appointment of Russell Slade as their new first team manager.
He comes in after previously managing Notts County, Sheffield United, Scarborough (one point during administration), Cardiff City (unpopular appointment and finished 11th and 8th in Championship), Brighton & Hove Albion (avoided relegation to League One after being appointed in March), Charlton Athletic (sacked after 6 months in charge winning 4 in 16 games).
Russell was also at Leyton Orient (lost in League Two playoff final, also avoided relegation from League One after being appointed with six games to go, lost in League One playoff final), Yeovil Town (lost in League One playoff final and won manager of the year but resigned due to not meeting same ambition with owners), Coventry City (guided them to the EFL Trophy Final despite club’s crisis, sacked after winning 3 in 16 games) and Grimsby Town (two spells, first saw him lose League Two playoff final, and in second he failed to win in 12 league games).
Hereford announced on their club website: “Having agreed a deal to take charge at Edgar Street, Russell has been introduced to the Bulls’ playing squad at tonight’s training session, as the players continue their preparations for Saturday’s home game against Boston United.
“Over the next 24 hours further details about this appointment, including an exclusive interview with Russell and the thoughts of Club Chairman, Andrew Graham, will be published on the Bulls’ official website and social media channels.”
