Hednesford confirm surprise signings in former Premier League and EFL players

Hednesford Town confirm the surprise signings in former Premier League and EFL players Nathan Delfouneso and Jake Jervis.

The two experienced players join the likes of Mike McGrath, Ryan Brown and Blaine Rowe to have joined in what has been a busy week for the club.

They hope these latest additions will be a big boost for a side that sit in the Northern Premier League West Division relegation zone, with 23 points from 27 games played, and four points from safety.

CLUB STATEMENT:

Nathan Delfouneso has joined from Chorley. The big name striker began his career at Aston Villa playing for the academy side before breaking through to the first team where he made over 30 appearances during a spell that included loans to Burnley, Leicester City, Blackpool and Coventry City. Nathan went on to move permanently to Blackpool where he made over 160 appearances during two spells. As well as playing for England up to Under-21 level Nathan has also represented Blackburn Rovers, Swindon Town, Bradford City and Bolton Wanderers.

Also joining the Pitmen is another striker Jake Jervis. Jake started out at Birmingham City and enjoyed a number of successful loan spells including Hereford, Notts County and Swindon Town. Following a short time at Ross County, Jake signed for Plymouth Argyle where he made 108 appearances and scored 27 times. Jake has gone on to play in Turkey, Finland and India before beginning this season with Brackley Town.

Centre back Mike McGrath joins following a 13 month spell as player-manager of Bromsgrove Sporting. He has played for a number of clubs including Kettering, Hereford and Evesham and a brief previous spell with the Pitmen.

In a further addition to the squad talented young goalkeeper Ryan Brown has returned to the Pitmen after a brief spell away at Kidsgrove Athletic.

Hednesford Town are also thrilled to announce the signing of talented right back Blaine Rowe from National League North club Darlington. The 21-year-old defender joins the Pitmen on a contract until the end of the 2024/25 season.
