York City have a replacement lined up to be named, and Matt Uggla posts after the controversial sacking of Stuart Maynard.

Three months after winning the National League, Maynard parts company, with Pete O’Rourke (@SportsPeteO) since reporting that Scott Lindsey is to replace him.

A tweet did emerge of the club’s Twitter announcing the appointment of Martin Jol before deleting the post moments later.

Gabriel Ramsey of York Press clarified that the League Two newboys haven’t appointed Martin Jol as their new manager, and that the social media account had been hacked.

York City owner Matt Uggla took to Instagram, one read “Never let people who only see the outcome make you question the decisions they never had to make.”

He also posted a video of himself saying “Jesus to Judas real quick. I think my dog still love me. Oh, no, he’s running away. You? Any love? I don’t think so.”

There can be no justification for sacking Maynard. None. We played incredible football. We won the league. We got over 100pts. We scored over 100 goals. He represented the club brilliantly. He understood the fans. He understood the club. Any “two sides to every story” bollocks can get straight in the bin. What possible reason could you conjure up (beyond a Gross Misconduct issue which we know hasn’t happened) that would justify sacking him at all, let alone 1 week before the season starts? Don’t even try. He wanted us to go again this season, certainly no lack of ambition. His “vision” was to take us as high as possible. So great football, ambition & a nice bloke to boot, struggling to see exactly what in that “footballing vision” could’ve possibly clashed with what the club wants. But it’s about more than just Maynard. This comes down to what do you actually want for York City. Do you want us to be a successful club, at any cost or do you want us to be a respectful, decent club? For the record you can be both, but the path we’re currently on we’re obviously not bothered about the latter. This is now 2 good people we’ve treated like shit. Tossed in the bin despite good (nay outstanding) previous seasons. So the question you have to ask yourself is what’s the most important thing to you about York City. Do you care if we act like this so long as we get to the top? Or is this football club about way more than the division we play in? I know where I stand. I didn’t start following this club because I dreamed of us playing in the PL in front of 40k with a bunch of millionaires on the pitch. It was my local team and it was a community. It’s about people and relationships. It’s about something you can be proud of. Do I feel proud about York City today? Absolutely not. I feel embarrassed. I’m going on holiday today and I’ve unpacked my City shirt because I’d feel a right twat wearing it right now. That’s upsetting because seeing the photos from Spain this week I’ve never felt more buzzing. Fans, team, management all together (thanks to money raised by the @ycfcst aka THE FANS) having a mint time. THAT is what York City is about. Sadly, the most important people at the club clearly do not value that enough and were quite happy to trash that for, well, fuck knows. I want to be clear, this is not me saying I want the Uggla’s out or anything daft like that. They have done a lot of good at this club but by fuck do they need to learn, and learn fast about what this club is really about for many of us. They tell us they love the club, love the city, love the fans, understand the fans. Well, clearly not. No fan would’ve made that decision, they would’ve understood that whatever differences you had with the manager, there was something more important in that connection with the fans that you do not just trash. That moment at Rochdale now feels tainted. That moment was sacrosanct and as a fan, it feels like they just took a massive shit on it. I’m not sure I can forgive them for that. Any future success this club has, I’ll think twice before thanking them for it again. It’s sad because they had it all in such a good place. I begrudgingly accepted what they did the Hinshelwood, even if many of the reasons were bollocks, there was a footballing reason (they still went about it all wrong). Maybe it was a one off, a complicated situation. Nah. It’s happened twice now. Fool me once, more fool you, fool me twice more fool me. I won’t be accepting this one like I did the last, it’s a pattern. They can turn this around, but it’s a long road back. I don’t care if we succeed this season, some things are more important than on pitch success. Dignity & pride in my club, that’s what I want. If thats not there, this isn’t the York City I love. Nothing else matters #YCFC 🔴🔵
