Harry Kane meets young fan racially abused + Coke bottle celebration goes viral

Harry Kane meets a young Tottenham fan who was racially abused at a local game + the Spurs star’s Coke bottle celebration goes viral.

The 28 year old footballer celebrated a record-breaking Premier League goal in style by volleying a bottle into the stands during his side’s 2-0 win over Brighton on Wednesday.

He broke Wayne Rooney’s record for the most away goals in the division by scoring a second-half thunderbolt which slipped through by Rodrigo Bentancur, with Kane steadying himself to smash past the keeper and bag his 95th away Premier League goal.

However Kane produced a more sublime strike just seconds later, latching onto a coke bottle thrown towards him from the travelling Spurs faithful and volleying it back into the crowd.

“Harry Kane celebrated his record-breaking goal by volleying a coke bottle that a supporter threw into the air. Iconic,” tweeted one supporter.

“Harry Kane volleying a Coke Zero bottle coming from the away end while celebrating a historic goal is the best thing I’ve seen today,” posted another.

“Kane watched that bottle of Coke drop from the sky like an actual cross was being delivered,” commented a third.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Spurs boss Antonio Conte was full of praise for his star man.

Conte said: “I am happy for him because in every game he has many chances to score. At the start of the season, he struggled a bit and didn’t score a lot and now he knows very well with this team he has great opportunities to score in every game.

“To have a striker like him makes us stronger but at the same time, his feeling now is positive because he knows he will have chances. I think he deserves to win something in his career because we are talking about a fantastic player.”

@SpursOfficial posted a video on Thursday, and it was captioned: “After yesterday’s game against Brighton, Sathi – a young Spurs fan who was racially abused whilst playing for his local team – met his idol, Harry Kane”

Kane said to the kid: “Sathi, how you doing? You ok? Good to see you. Did you enjoy the game?

The young fella replies “Yeah.”

Kane greeted the parents, shook their hands and went on: “Got a little gift for you here, it’s a shirt, do you want a picture?”

The both have beaming smiles, Kane has a brief discussion with Sathi and signed a ball before having a family photo together.

Kane finishes off by saying it was great to meet everyone, glad they enjoyed the game and looks forward to seeing them at the Spurs Stadium.

“It was a really good performance, we controlled the game from the off, had a lot of possession, moved the ball well, broke the deadlock with a bit of luck – sometimes you need that, away from home – and even in the second half I thought we created the better chances, they didn’t create too much, and we probably could have got one or two more,” reflected Harry at the Amex.

“It was a great performance from the whole team, a clean sheet away from home as well is key if we want to have top four hopes. Overall, it was a good night, a good bounce back win and hopefully we can continue on Sunday.”

It was put to Harry that recent performances – Everton, Brighton, even in Saturday’s loss at United, suggested that the team is moving in the right direction.

“We’ve got to keep working, we spoke about that after the games, about gaining momentum, and that’s what we’ve got to try and do, especially before the international break. It’s really important to try and finish with a win (against West Ham on Sunday).

“I feel like we’re improving as team, understanding the manager’s ideas more and more, especially with the ball, without it we’re more compact – the bottom line is we have to turn all that into wins. United was a good performance bit we didn’t win, so it doesn’t matter.

“West Ham is a big game now, they are right in the top four hunt as well, a London derby, we’ve got to be up for it. West Ham have showed real quality this season and it will be a tough battle. We have to be ready for it.”
