Fans react as Bruno Guimaraes informs Newcastle of his wish to leave and join Arsenal

Fans react as Bruno Guimaraes informs Newcastle United of his wish to leave and join Arsenal, according to reports.

On the 8th of July, David Ornstein tweeted that the Gunners were “stepping up their pursuit” and were “ready to offer deal worth up to £60m at present.”

However, there is yet to be club-to-club contact with Newcastle not entertaining offers.

Fabrizio Romano meanwhile claimed that Arsenal were preparing new official bid with Arteta wanting him.

He said: “£55m already rejected, second approach at £65m package rejected too — fee in between £65m and £90m could accelerate talks.

“Bruno told Newcastle last week that he wants #AFC move but won’t create issues, leaving decision in club hands.”

He added: “Bruno Guimaraes deal, driven by Mikel Arteta who’s pushing to bring him in.

“Deal depends on Newcastle stance but #AFC to bid again + personal terms not an issue at all.

“No intermediaries: agents Bertolucci, Kia Joorabchian and Alexis Malavolta are on it all together.”

Keith Downie said while on Sky Sports News: “Look Mike, think you look at some of the other Newcastle players who’ve left in recent times.

“Just last week Sandro Tonali joined Tottenham Hotspur for £100 million, will be doubling his salary at the same time.

“Anthony Gordon has done similar with his move to Barcelona recently and we saw of course what happened with Alexander Isak in that protracted move to Liverpool last year.

“So, I think with Bruno Guimaraes, without putting words in his mouth, he’s probably sitting thinking, well, when’s it my turn to go and double my wages and give myself an opportunity to win league titles year after year?

“Of course, I’m saying that in the case of Gordon and Isak, probably not so much, Tonali joining Tottenham.

“But he’s 28, he’ll be 29 in November. He’s in his peak years right now.

“And I think all these players, when they join Newcastle, they join Newcastle hoping that they would win trophies, they would win the Premier League.

“And of course, they’ve not done that year on year. It’s probably not been quite the rise that they thought it would have. It’s gone a little bit slower than they thought they would.

“So I think they still do see most of them as a stepping stone for a player joining Newcastle United. And I think for Bruno, it’s a chance for a last payday. It’s a chance to join a club who who wins trophies regularly.

“The problem is here, Arsenal, if they do really want to sign in, they need to come to the table and make an offer to Newcastle and they haven’t done that yet.

“And that’s what makes this whole transfer so unbelievable really.

“And it feels like it’s all being led by or driven, should I say, by agents and intermediaries because Newcastle have not had direct contact from Arsenal, but yet there has been talks between intermediaries trying to sanction a deal.”

Adam Pearson took to Twitter: “Feels like the end of an era at Newcastle United. Surely the club can’t allow Gordon, Tonali and Bruno to all leave in the same window.

“Newcastle would be almost guaranteed to have a bad season in my opinion.

“I got a horrible feeling this Bruno Guimaraes situation will get worse unfortunately.

“Newcastle United in my opinion will refuse to sell him to Arsenal which will then likely get agents and Bruno to dig in and eventually get his move.

“This one hurts so much.

“I don’t know how people don’t think Bruno Guimaraes would kick up a fuss like Alexander Isak and potentially force a move this summer after being told no at Newcastle United.

“His agent has been advertising him to clubs throughout the World Cup (which would have been done with his approval), Bruno has also been offered more money at a better club with better facilities, better players and a better manager.

“Same people denying this also denied he would ever want to leave this club a couple of weeks ago…

“Elite clubs or clubs have claim to be elite level do not sell their best players to other clubs in the same league.

“Newcastle United’s ownership consistently claims they are elite level and want to be competing for Premier League titles by 2030, it is utter rubbish.

“So infuriating Newcastle United, finally looked like they were settling in and creating some optimism ahead of next season with starting to get deals done.

“Can’t get away from losing players or losing deals, pre season return will just be full of negativity.”

@LukeEdwardsTele wrote: “Feel there is going to be more bad news for #nufc regarding Bruno Guimareas saga. Claims from his camp that he wants to leave. Still no contact from Arsenal club to club.

“I’m told Bruno is extremely emotional following Brazil’s early exit from the World Cup. This is probably his last chance to secure a big money move to a team competing for title and Champions League.

“But he does not want to tarnish his legacy at Newcastle and will only leave if clubs can agree a price.

“Newcastle valuation is around the £100m fee they received for Tonali. No chance they sell at £50-60m
Very unlikely Bruno goes down the same path as Isak to force an exit but he would like a move to Arsenal.

“Newcastle are aware of what is happening. This is an attempt to soften them up so they panic after the Isak saga and sell at a price Arsenal like.

“Arsenal have not yet made a bid, all this talk of verbal offers through intermediaries is just agent nonsense. There has been no offer let alone a second one.

“For a transfer to accelerate or proceed Arsenal would need to talk to Newcastle directly. Newcastle have no offer to consider at the moment. They don’t even know if one will come as it’s all been fuelled by agents at the moment. There is irritation but also an understanding of how the market works.

“The asking price will be around the same as the Tonali fee. Not £60m. Not £75m.

“And Bruno will have to agitate to leave. He will have to demand a transfer.

“A lot of twists and turns to come I’m sure.

“Lots of twists and turns ahead but this is where things are at the moment. A reminder that what agents say is not always the truth.

“If you are blaming Eddie Howe for players leaving Newcastle United I’m going to say it as directly and plainly as I can.

“You’re utterly clueless about football and everything that has gone on at the club for the last four and a half years.

“The good thing is you’ll all know who you are so yes it’s directed at you. Completely and utterly clueless about how football works and where Newcastle are as a club.”

@Nufc2Everything: Slept on it. Let Bruno go. £80m – £90m. He loses his legend status by “requesting” to leave. Sign stiller and 3 more players. If Eddie starts terrible bring in manager from Stuttgart #NUFC

@WarBoyNUFC: People are melting down. We’re a selling club! blah blah. For God’s sake, if Bruno, Gordon or Tonali want out, what are you supposed to do? Even Liverpool sold Suárez, Coutinho and Díaz when they wanted to leave. Players move. It’s football #NUFC

@NUFCLC: Tonali gone. Gordon gone. Isak gone. Bruno will be gone. Livramento would force a move if he was fit. Hall open to a move too. Murphy, Pope and Burn all happy. One man to blame. Told you so. #NUFC

@geordiejosh: Fucking hate football. Never trusting a footballer ever again me, no one is bigger than this football club. Thanks for the trophy Bruno, thanks for being the best footballer I’ve ever seen play for my club but you can fuck clean off if you want to leave pal 👍👍👍 Thought Bruno was one of the only footballers left who would rather a legacy at a football club than trophies. Bruno might as well just fuck off cos I’ll not even appreciate how fucking unreal he is next season if he stayed. I was told Newcastle’s star players would leave if Eddie Howe was to be sacked, that clueless idiot is the reason our star players HAVE left.

@S0uthernGe0rdie: Dead to me @brunoog97. The biggest snake of the lot. Wait for the others to leave then come out with this. Either speak out with the truth or shut up. #NUFC

@rossdoran89: Can you blame him. Put yourself in his shoes and ask yourself what you would do? Scraped 12th, no replacements for stars leaving, no direction, no European football in sight…. he’s gave us everything. It hurts but I ask again, can you blame him?

@S0uthernGe0rdie: I wouldn’t spout the amount of shit that he does for a start. I wouldn’t sign a long contract. I wouldn’t be club captain wait for key players to leave then throw this out there.

@rossdoran89: As captain he sees his best teammates getting sold around him and no one coming in to replace them. Everyone has a point of snapping and the fact we have sold Tonali, Gordon and Isak in 12 months and spunked millions on no one is likely a big factor.

@ToonTakeover_: I’m calling it now, I think he leaves for around £75M. Club will spend BIG on his replacement. Might not be a like-for-like exact replacement in terms of ability/skill set. But I’d expect both Stiller and Nmecha to be high on the list. #NUFC

@PekkTinNUFC: Accepted we’re finished and likely not making good signings this window. Bruno will go, Manzambi won’t come, Nmecha, stiller and co will get good moves elsewhere and we will sink as we desperately sign and replace our world class talent with below par slop. Fully given up #NUFC

@Toon_TaIk: Can’t quite understand the outrage from some Newcastle fans directed AT Bruno?! Are you lot okay? #NUFC are in a rebuild phase, he’s far too good to not be playing CL, will earn more cash, has literally bled for this club for +5 years and is turning 29!

@DanLang12: Eddie Howe getting blamed for players leaving. Isak left coz its Liverpool had just won the league and they pay him £300k. Gordon left coz its Barcelona and they are paying him £300k a week. Tonali left coz he would join anyone for more money spurs pay him £ 285K.. Bruno wants to leave its Arsenal they have just won league and will pay him alot more than we can. Look at Villa they have to sell their best players it’s not coz of Emrey is it. It’s because PSR was made to keep the the big 6 the biggest and it’s working. Blame @premierleague
