Former Grimsby Town player Elliott Whitehouse has been banned for six games and fined £2,000 for using racist language towards an opponent.
The 26-year-old has been charged following an incident which took place on the 72nd minute of his side’s League Two game against Northampton Town on the 23rd of November 2019.
Whitehouse used a derogatory term ‘pikey’ to Northampton midfielder Alan McCormack.

Fans reacted after finding out that the Grimsby player has been banned for six games and fined for using racist language towards opponent…
Agreed. If a supporter racially abuses a player they get a lifetime ban. And possibly a prison senrence.

Banned for life, fined for more, and a proper criminal conviction would be a proper punishment. Wont beat it if its not taken seriously.

Why such disparity across the leagues? Surely he should be banned for 8 games and pay a heavier fine? Needs to be punished in line with the prem and championship so the harshness is felt and seen across the lower leagues as well
