Graham Potter’s epic rant on pundits who claim he doesn’t get angry enough is quite something, with footage of his response going viral.
Potter showed a new side of him during a Chelsea press conference when he responded to questions about his temperament, telling a reporter that he didn’t know much about anything.
After a difficult start to his Chelsea tenure, Potter has become an interesting topic of conversation. Despite the team’s struggles, Potter has maintained his cool and remained composed.
Potter made a joke in a recent interview, saying he needed to be respectful even though some of his questions were stupid.
The 47-year old insists that he does get angry, and maintains that he would not have achieved the success he has without his mean streak.
This is a genuinely impressive riposte from Graham Potter to a narrow-minded question. I dare say it’s the sort of bite back that most Chelsea fans have wanted to see from him all along too.

He was asked what makes him angry and replied: “Apart from these questions? I would say, I’m careful not to get into discussion with the media through the media but of course I get angry, I’m a human being just like you. It’s just that I choose to conduct myself the way that I think that’s the right way to be on the sideline.
“I think the same media being more angry and then running stories about problems with referees at grassroots – I don’t see a connection. That’s not to say we don’t all lose out temper, because we do, it is an emotional thing. But at the same I think I have a responsibility to myself, to Chelsea, to the game – to act in the right way for me, not for anybody else.
“If anyone thinks that you can start a coaching career in the ninth tier of English football, in the Northern Counties Division One, and get to this point now with Chelsea in the Champions League without getting angry, I would suggest they don’t know anything about anything.”

This is what social media users said with Graham Potter’s epic rant on pundits who claim he doesn’t get angry enough is quite something…
@PR_Gooner76: He’s such an impressive individual and way too classy for that club.
@YellaBuh: Would be loving this if I was Chelsea fan, hope they give him time even if they don’t get European football this season, he’s right he has climbed his way to the top for a reason.
@fulham_mike1: Exactly why he will be the national manager in the not to distant future
@keithcropper1: He will turn it around at Chelsea mark my words. Just needs time
@TacitusKillgore: This video alone made me actually like the guy. Seems like a proper gentleman, and a likeable dude.
@j3cK_b: Such a shame he’s gone to Chelsea he’s so likeable he deserves better
@H4RP4L: He’s a top coach and when given time at the top level, will show it
@Seleagle1: Graham potter doesn’t let himself down by ranting and raving at other people, he seems calm no matter what he circumstances may be and deserves credit for that. I’m not a Chelsea fan but when he’s got a fully fit squad they are going to be hard to beat.
@ade_rawden: Absolute quality I hope he does well the game needs genuine football people to survive Luke Williams at Notts is another top bloke.. The media are at times quite ridiculous in the questions they ask and deserve contempt..
@JFritz66: Exactly, if he went mad at the ref they’d be saying he’s rattled, out of order, disrespectful, making excuses etc. Can’t win either way, fair play to him for erring on the side of respect
@johnspicer01: A very intelligent coach, easy to see why he has been so successful. Must be great to play for!
@JaredLuiz12: Should be a bite back any football fan should want. Bloke has grafted to the top against an industry of football nepotism (certainly in England anyway). A success story whether it works out here or not.
@steverose85: He’s absolutely spot on there.
@JohnmjtJt1919: Potters a good guy, fair play to him
@M_v_Baron: Can’t help but like Potter. He ones across as a decent and likeable person despite being in a very difficult and pressure situation. He deserves better than the asylum that is CFC.
@PhillySteak92: The people saying he should get angry are probably the same people blasting Arteta
@darley_mike: Very nicely put. It sends a clear message that conduct on the touch line is key and that respect to fellow professionals is shown at all times regardless of the outcome of the game. Hat off to you sir.
@ifyoucanbe: He’s bang on .. the media not seeing the link between troubles officiating at grass roots and role models in the upper echelons is disturbing..
@CaptainScott87: Heard this on the radio this morning, brilliant, measured, honest and correct response from Potter. I think he’s a little out of his depth myself, but he’s showed alot of character here and I hope he proves me wrong in the long run.
@JonathanRigg1: Great to see a top flight manager calling out the parallels between conduct at the upper echelons of the game and the respect to referees at grass roots level (and the double standards of the media for good measure)
@OwenG_CCFC: He’s got too much class for Chelsea they don’t deserve him
@Taylor_Liam93: Do love this from Potter. The media get away with double standards week after week.
@PhilNicholson13: More should follow his example 👏👏👏
@mancityneil: The media are a disgrace in this country.
@chriscookbufc: Quality! Love it!
@Saladabap: Absolutely brilliant the last biting comment sums it up .. you don’t know anything about anything ! 😂
@Ollierelfo87: Superb answer this from Potter 👏 Great connection to grassroots refereeing too.
@aid01: This is really impressive from Potter.
@ceemac92: Conducted himself well here Potter. Media don’t half ask some utter shite questions.
